Don't really see it outside houses but do enjoy moving them from in front of shops where the owners think the space in front comes with the premises.

People blocking gates are another matter. Constantly happens outside my parents with staff from Beaumont who don't want to pay for parking thinking they can just stick their car anywhere they want.

I thought in Ireland that once you put your hazard lights on that you could park anywhere at any time, ignoring all rules of the road?

    Only while driving a taxi.

Probably still need a reason though like engine problem or flat tire.

Only applies if you need to run into the shop to do a lotto quickpick after mass on a Saturday.

Haven't we come a long way all the same.....I remember being Incrediblized by the notion of Americans having a Drive-In Bank or Cinema......Could'nt get my head around it.....:p

Today,we've long overtaken those pesky Yanks in our dedication to the Mechanically Propelled Vehicle.

Mind you, none of our Planners,Developers or Local Authorities have bought into that, cos they're busy spending money on Cycle Tracks, wider footpaths and making Cul-De-Sac's ....sheesh...talk about swimming agin the tide !!

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

I used to live beside someone who would go ape**** if someone parked outside his house. Funnily enough he'd go ape**** at everyone except the person who parked there. A real tough guy.

I remember my friend went off with a cone and he stuck his willy in it according to reports from other friends.

There was a man in my estate who got caught keying a car that had moved a cone he put down and parked there.

The car wasn't even outside his or any other house. He used to put the cones all over the estate.

He had criminal damage charges put up against him for the keying. Like he actually scratched a car because they parked within 50m of his house. What a scumbag.

I'm moving into a new house on friday and i've 2 spaces allocated to me, as per the contract terms.

Even today there are people parked in them...as we try to lug boxes in to the house. They are directly to the front of the house.

Last saturday i parked behind the 2 cars parked there. 20 mins passed and the bell rings....

"can you move your van, my dad can't get out"

"probably shouldn't have parked in our spaces then"

*narky* "didn't see your name on them"

*lifts contract from hall table*..."it's just there - you see that mark on the drawing beside number 18"

Then to really take the biscuit i look outside the living room window and i see someone trying to force a corsa up the side entry, taking flowers and half the lawn with them!! "Pity you weren't driving a bus - you could have taken all the lawn"...move to fcuk!!

Who gave you the spaces??, a landlord can't allocate public space as a parking space for you.

    2 stories:

    1. I went to CIT and as anyone familiar with the campus knows, parking is at a premium past 08:40 in the morning. The estates surrounding the place used to take the overflow of cars. Now this used to drive the residents mental, I remember one lady in particular came storming out of her house one day effin and blinding. I politely told her that I fully agree with her predicament but while it was free to park there and as long as I never block gates, while the campus car park is full I'll continue to park there. I wonder have they had pay and display put up since? It must have been a pain for anyone getting our of their driveways.

They haven't, its the same if not worse than when I was attending years back. Its a common occurrence in Cork. Its such a compact city especially around the inner city areas such as Shandon St and Barrack St, parking is nuts.
