Anyone else hoping to do med in NUIG? No accommodation booked though, so it's gonna be a fun 2 weeks trying to find somewhere to live while working 6 days a week. :'(

I got 370 points and I have the HEAR scheme, I don't know if it will be enough to get Commerce though :( I do have Corporate Law as my second choice

If you have HEAR, you have a very good chance.

You still might have a chance for Commerce, LCVP, Business and Music let me down! I am still in shock that I got a Pass in LCVP, I needed a Merit at least.

I have Arts down which i might get and If I get it I'll be doing German, Legal studies, Economics and Politics or Spanish for the last one.

I booked Dunaras the day offers came out last year, they tend to put most of the med students together in one block which would be handy if you're going into first med.

I'll have a look into that, thanks! Yeah, if I do end up in Galway I'll be moving straight into first med.
What's it like for bringing people back to stay over? I was in UCD last year on campus and it was hell...

I think you get a fine if someone stays over in Corrib village :( It makes me sad

Ah you'll be in with my crowd so :B security can really vary.. There were two security guards there last year and the place was always safe and secure, but when it came to checking ID coming back in after a night out, I only really saw it happen when people were loud, locked or fighting with taxi drivers. There's no limit on the amount of times you can have someone over as far as i'm aware of (unlike ucd!).. Protocol would be to get a sign in sheet for your guest the day before, and have all your housemates sign their consent, handing it back to security/reception the night that person was staying, Basically saying you'll take responsibility for any damage they cause your house and such. They reserve the right to kick anyone who's not registered to stay off the grounds at midnight so best bear that in mind, it happened a friend of one of my housemates, but they were making a lot of noise and causing a pretty spectacular commotion at around 3am :P

I know a few of ye guys already. :P #connections
My guest identity will probably not be known the day before if ya catch my drift.... UCD was a b*****d for it last year. Manage to get two fines during my time there. I've kinda been put off student accommodation so I was thinking of finding a room in a house somewhere either... I'll have to wait for offers to see if I'm in NUIG, still a chance I could be in RCSI or UCD atm...

Now to figure out who haha :P
In general you'd be fine, IDs were strictly checked during rag week but other than that I don't remember being asked to produce mine. The two security guys are sensible and won't make a fuss over nothing. It's definitely not as strict as UCD, bar Corrib I don't think anywhere in Galway is! There's a house hunting Galway page on Facebook if that's more your scene too- best of luck on Monday now anyway :)

I'm sure you know her! Everyone seems to anyway!

Thanks a million for the help! If I do get Galway I'll more than likely be back asking for more help! haha

You've a very good chance with HEAR tho, don't ya ?

I got 410 so I don't think I'm gonna get Business Information systems, but I have a decent chance at Commerce I think.

I hope I have a chance, I'll be happy with Commerce or Corporate Law so I think I will get one of them. You definitely have a a good chance with 410, I don't see it going above 410 this year.

I got a pass in LCVP aswell and was shocked , i did well in the pre written for it and i thought everything else for it was done well but it really messed up my points and i really wish i dropped it. It was not worth the effort

I got a distinction in the mocks and a Merit in the leaving.. Disappointed didn't get the distinction, would have gotten 420, which would have secured commerce, now I'm dreading tomorrow.

Do you have to accept what you're offered tomorrow or is there a deadline

You have a week (until 5.15pm on 25th August) to accept/decline tomorrow's offers.

Yeah there doesn't seem to be anything else on for us that week either,it would be good time to move in and that but if its not important I'll probably give it a skip.
