You've a very good chance with HEAR tho, don't ya ?

I got 410 so I don't think I'm gonna get Business Information systems, but I have a decent chance at Commerce I think.

I hope I have a chance, I'll be happy with Commerce or Corporate Law so I think I will get one of them. You definitely have a a good chance with 410, I don't see it going above 410 this year.

You still might have a chance for Commerce, LCVP, Business and Music let me down! I am still in shock that I got a Pass in LCVP, I needed a Merit at least.

I have Arts down which i might get and If I get it I'll be doing German, Legal studies, Economics and Politics or Spanish for the last one.

I got a pass in LCVP aswell and was shocked , i did well in the pre written for it and i thought everything else for it was done well but it really messed up my points and i really wish i dropped it. It was not worth the effort

I got a distinction in the mocks and a Merit in the leaving.. Disappointed didn't get the distinction, would have gotten 420, which would have secured commerce, now I'm dreading tomorrow.

Do you have to accept what you're offered tomorrow or is there a deadline

You have a week (until 5.15pm on 25th August) to accept/decline tomorrow's offers.

Yeah there doesn't seem to be anything else on for us that week either,it would be good time to move in and that but if its not important I'll probably give it a skip.

Looking at the Arts subjects now and it's kind of hard deciding which one's to do. Just a few too many that interest me.

What subjects are you thinking of doing?
First week will have intro lectures to every subject and you have 2 weeks or so before you have to confirm what you are picking.
Ive just done first year and did English, Soc&Pol, History and Philosophy so fire away if you have any questions.

Thanks very much. I remember hearing about the 2 week period now, that should help. I'll definitely do English anyway but History and Philosophy are two I'm considering but not sure about. Did you find them as interesting as they would seem? What was the workload like?

Enjoy the debs. Ride some young w'an.

It is debatable whether any of the talks are lectures you are ever given in Commerce are worth going to - you can certainly skip the introduction.

The first thing that you must attend in uni is Socs Day. Sign up for loads of societies. They're probably the best thing about college.

It does help but I only took up a place on the course week and a half or so into term as had been intending to do another course before it fell through.
English isn't bad. 2 essays a semester and an exam in each semester. You cover novels like Jane Eyre, 1984, A Handmaid's Tale as well as medieval Beowulf and Dante's Inferno in first semester and then second semester you cover renaissance lit and drama. You do poetry in both semesters and that's only assessed by essay. Go to your tutorials, some lectures and get essays done well in time and you'll pass fine.

History covers WW1 in Ireland and Europe in first semester and French Revolution in Ireland and Europe in second semester. Same format as English with 2 essays in each semester and exam in each semester. 4 questions per exam.

Philosophy first semester covers history of philosophy so Plato, Descartes, Aristotle etc and then second semester you do ethics of Abortion, Climate Change, Privacy. Second semester much easier than the first. I had to repeat first semester Philosophy so its on the brain. Not bad but if you want to do well just read the philosophers and be prepared to contribute as much as you can in tutorials. I didn't do that and struggled

Loved English but had great tutor. Didn't like History at all really. Liked Soc&Pol and liked second semester philosophy but not first semester so much.
Any other q's just P'M me.

Did people upload a photo for student ID or what?

They'll probably take a new photo when you go to collect your student card anyway, that's what they did last year so it was pointless uploading a photo at all.

yip have to uplload a passport size photo and you also need two passport size pics if you are staying in corrib village as well as a 15 page print out of the rules and regulations singed by the student and the guaranteer.
