NUIG 2014-2015

Is anyone else hoping to go to NUIG this September? I'm going alone but can't wait! I have applied for Corrib Village, I've lots heard stories about it! What is it like for first years? I'm hoping to do Commerce, the points were 375 last year so I hope they don't rise this year.

Same here, I'm going for Commerce as well. AS far as I know I'll be on my own unless lads must move down their CAO list. Our CG teacher said it's a great place to meet people and that it's easy to lock the bedroom door if you want some quite time.

Might see each other then! Not knowing anyone will make us make friends :P I have a single room thank god. I've only heard great things about NUIG and Galway which is good because im coming from Wicklow :P

I'm only about an hour and half from NUIG but nearly all the lads goin to either UL or UCD.

Commerce! Jaysus, we nearly have the whole class here.

Better get Galway, just worried about accommodation though, haven't applied anywhere, any suggestions? From Monaghan, would there be much chance I get campus accommodation, saw that Corrib Village (I think) was fully booked . Probably have to live in a cardboard box outside McDonalds at this rate. :(:(:(:(

3 out of like 275 I booked Corrib a good while ago but I'd say ring up and get on the waiting list and there might be a place when the offers come out!I think there is a few other campus accommodation in NUIG but as far as i know Corrib is where most of the first years are at 1 euro Hamburger every day, can't beat it

How much is Corrib? I've been looking at them all and Cuirt na Coiribe says €4,000, does this include the €900 (electricity, deposit and ultilities charges), or would I have to pay €4,900?

I'm not to sure about Cuirt na Coiribe tbh. I'd imagine the €900 is part of the €4,000 but I'm not sure. It probably doesn't included the deposit though!
You could always ring up the campus office and ask them for guidance about it?

With Corrib Village have we to complete that Check list on the student account page or can we turn up once we pay?

Make that 4 out of 275.. It looks like it will rise around 30 points again this year . Simply too much demand for the course. I booked Corrib Village about a month and a half ago or so. I have BIS and Commerce down as my first and second choices in Galway. Really hope I get either otherwise I'd have to go to some sh!te IT.

I'm expecting it to be around 400 which is annoying cause it was like 340 in 2012 :mad: but thats how it goes! I have Corporate Law as my second in NUIG. If I don't get my first two I'll be going DIT most likely but wanna go Galway.

Did you book a single room? I booked a single room, hate snorers :pac:

I got there too late. All that was left was Double Room and Shared bathroom or Twin room with Shared bathroom. So I decided to go for the Double room. Its basically the same as a single room only with a double bed.

I'm exactly the same. If I don't get BIS or Commerce in Galway I'm hoping for Business Computing in DIT.

I got there late too so ended had to get a Double bed in a single room too :P I'm happy with it though I suppose Lets pray that Commerce doesn't go up too much! Are you coming from Dublin?

Kilkenny... Not sure I'd go Galway if I was from Dublin. But then again, you're probably sick of Dublin.

I'm coming from Wicklow so pretty near Dublin but Commerce in UCD is just too high points for me. I'll have to get a bus to Dublin then a bus to Galway

Actually lads, you know the way it says '*Other payments due with first part-payment: €850 (€250 Booking Deposit, €375 Electricity Deposit, €225 Utilities Charge)'

Does that mean we have to pay 850 with the 2725 first part payment yeah? Surely not the 250 booking deposit isnt that paid already? This money is off the walls hahaha! Anyone know when they look for RAs?

Do you have the Campus living account thing? Do it say it on that?

I'm coming from dublin, hoping to do commerce! Anybody have any idea of my chances of getting a place in corrib i applied back in april but was too late so am wait listed. Don't really know if i should just hope to get a last minute place there or if i should start finding roommates and an apartment

I say you might get it because lots of people who booked corrib earlier in the year might not even get a place in NUIG but you cannot be sure. Maybe keep your options open until the results come out and ring up then? Plenty of people will be looking for roommates when the results come out.

I think I'll change this into a Commerce 2014-2015 thread ;)

The student accommodation places are pretty expensive, I lived in Cuirt last year its expensive but its nice accommodation. Corrib really is the best place to meet people but its kinda a s***hole.
Im looking at getting a house in Dún which is beside cuirt but a bit closer to college and am looking for roommates. It would also be a pretty good place for first years as your close to college and close to town for going out. Because in fairness your mostly going to meet more people through clubs and societies and not having security judge when you can or cant bring people back to your room is also kinda a bonus for private accommodation :P

I hoping to do Commerce aswell and i booked corrib .... do you guys think the points will rise alot

If I don't get Commerce, I'll be get Arts :P I'll probably do Legal Studies, German, Economics and maybe Spanish or Politics in Arts.

I think Commerce will rise to maybe 400 points, What do yous think?

This thread has made me realize I will not get Commerce. By my calculations I'm getting 380/385. But with the demand for the course, it will definitely be over 400

I can't see it rising anymore than 415, I have the HEAR scheme which hopefully will help, but we will just have to wait and see.

ya hopefully if it does rise it only goes to 400/410 .. i keep trying to figure out what i might have got but its impossible ... ya i'm the same if i dont get commerce i would arts and do Economics and German.
