No need for Krul when you have De Gea.
2 x £4m defenders will hurt you, especially with a £4.5m midfielder to boot. None are guaranteed to play
    Dzeko not guaranteed to start
    Huth not guaranteed to start
    Ward definitely not worth £5m

I would give it another major overhaul! Think you could struggle to have 11 starters in that team for GW1.

OK. Cheers. Might even go back to last team that a couple on here thought was decent enough. This is head wrecking!!

I originally had Begovic and Krul with Evans as United cover but Evans is injured now......

Only one last decision for me to make - Ramsey or Cesc?

Already have Alexis Sanchez in team.

Are people taking a chance on Evans for Saturday? If not, then who to get in?

had him in my team but swapped him for Jones this morning - will wait and see what LVg says in presser friday before changing

Silva and Coutinho or Hazard and Siggy?

HHazard at 10.00 is killing me, would love the extra 1.0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,471 ✭✭✭OneColdHand

Ok this is where I am at the minute:

    Krul

    Cahill - Debuchy - Jones/Evans

    Eriksen - Mata - Ramsey - Fabregas

    Rooney - Bojan - Giroud

    Bench: Hamer, Siggy, Bruce, Wisdom
    Bank: 0.5m

My main concern is not having Costa. I think he'll do well. Best way to get him in is to upgrade Giroud. So essentially it would be a case of

    A. Cahill + Giroud
    vs
    B. Pieters (say) + Costa

The option is to downgrade Siggy for a 4.5 mid. On paper this would give me a good looking first 11 for GW1. However, that would mean that Bojan would be playing every week, where previously I had intended rotating him with Siggy based on fixtures.

    Decisions, decisions!

567th Draft....I'm beginning to remember why I stopped playing this game rolleyes.png

    De Gea
    Lovren, Azpilicueta, O'Shea
    Eriksen, Coutinho, Mata, Sigurdsson
    Giroud, Rooney, Sturridge

    Myhill, Bruce, El Ahmadi, Wisdom

Recommendations and thoughts please. €0.5mil in the bank and considering swapping out Sturridge for Costa and bringing in Ramsey for Coutinho. Maybe Lovren out and the extra €0.5 towards another €6mil defender?

    De Gea

    Davies, Terry, Chambers

    Hazard, Sigurdsson, Mata, Sánchez

    Costa, Bojan, Rooney

    Bench: James, Bruce, Wisdom

I think i'm settling for this, worried not having Eriksen/Ramsay. Is Chambers risky?

Surely Costa is a must not for everyone?!

i didnt take costa for one reason, he is a lazy runner gets nice goals but reminds me of bebatov if he worked harder he could be unreal!

Pretty sure this is going to be the final team!

    Mannone
    Debuchy, OShea, Ward
    Mata, Ramsey, Nasri, Sterling, Fabregas
    Rooney, Giroud

    Myhill, Bojan, Long, Moore

Only change I might make is swapping out Sterling/Long for Sigurdsson/Terry. Want to have some Liverpool cover though, can see them scoring big against Southampton.

Southampton haven't conceded in their last 4 friendlies and have just spent another £6m signing Florin Gardos from Steaua Bucharest. They may have sold half their squad (most notably Lovren, Shaw, Lallana and Lambert) but they don't look any worse for it!

Is Huth (5.0) not as likely to start as Pieters (5.0)? Pieters and Muinesa have shared time at LB over pre-season. Huth shared game time with Wilson as far as I know.

Re: Ward not being worth 5.0: Pulis' defenses are usually fairly solid. I would expect them to keep more than their fair share of cleansheets this season.

After much tinkering I've arrived at this.

    De Gea
    Terry, Chambers, Luis
    Eriksen, Ramsey, Mata, Sterling
    Rooney, Costa, Bojan

    Gilks, Wisdom, Hutton, King

Goalkeeper: De Gea all the way for the foreseeable future.

Defense: I've gone with the Chelsea double threat of Terry and Luis. Not sure if this is the greatest idea as it leaves the rest of my defense weak as well as having a lack of coverage.

Midfield: Happy with my coverage here despite the lack of city player. I'm hoping Sterling will make up for not having Sturridge. I think Ramsey is the better choice over Sanchez for the start of the season anyway.

Forwards: Hoping both Rooney and Costa will get me at least one goal a piece. Can't make up my mind who to make captain between the two of them. Probably won't decide till the day.

What do you guys think? Especially about my defense.

You'd better get a Palace player in so :D

Wilson is likely to start this weekend ahead of Huth. I think he'll ease Huth back into the first team eventaully.

I didn't lay that out very well.

The first sentence related to the comment about Huth not being nailed on.

The second one about Pulis, was in relation to the comment that Ward wasn't worth 5.0. I already have a Palace defender.

No, my bad. I read it back again and can see why you picked it up like that.

    I better edit it.

You're putting a lot of eggs in a one, blue basket defence-wise. Chambers is unlikely to start after GW2 when Per is back to match fitness. If I were you I'd downgrade Terry and up grade Chambers to Debuchy for an extra mill.

Mr prodston and manual mans big money strikeforce idea Im finding hard to shake.Have come up with this.
    Begovic ( given)
Chambers Van aanholt Dunne ( hutton, collocini)
Rodwell Mata fabregas ramsey ( marney)
    Costa Sturridge Rooney

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,790 ✭✭✭Benimar

    Thinking of:

    DeGea/Hamer
    Terry/Bardsley/N.Taylor/Collocini/Bruce
    Mata/Fabregas/Ramsey/Siggy/Henderson
    Rooney/Costa/Austin

GK: Play DeGea every week. Hamer has low ownership so less fear of a price drop.
DEF: Terry the 'big hitter'. Stoke/Swansea and Newcastle/Hull rotate perfectly for first 6 weeks. Bruce slightly risky but going to chance him.
MID: First 3 speak for themselves. Siggy at the price is too good to ignore. Henderson is my 'punt'. Two goals in preseason (along with a few towards the end of last season) gives me hope he might be 'Ramsey light' this season.
FOR: Rooney and Costa are obvious picks. Going with Austin as my cheapie, QPR have a decent start and Austin has goals in him.

    All opinions/criticisms/upgrades welcome.

Anybody got any opinion's looking to squeeze in United and Chelsea coverage for the start of the season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,909 ✭✭✭✭whatawaster

I'd appreciate some feedback on this team:

    GK: Krul, Mannone

Def: Debuchy, Phil Jones, Vlaar, Wisdom, Bruce

Mid: Ramsey, Mata, Sterling, Henderson, El Ahmadi

    Str: Rooney, Costa, Giroud.

    Thanks!

Downgrade Baines (terrible fixtures and very expensive) and upgrade your bench or 3rd striker.

There are better options than Vlaar at 4.5. Villa are going to be terrible.

Other than that its a strong team but I wouldn't be a fan of two Liverpool midfielders given their opening fixtures.

My plan would be to take Sterling out after week 1 and bring in someone like Eriksen or Lamela. I have 0.5m to play about with so may look to upgrade Vlaar. Thanks.
