If you're born a bloke, you're born a bloke and thats that. And vice versa.

Having a sex change op later in life doesn't alter the sex you were born with so in no way whatsoever should anyone even consider that it is perfectly ok for the state to rewrite the facts as stated on birth certs.

It smacks of the same chicanery used by revisionists who rewrite history to suit their own agendas.

Yer one had a great point however in relation to Irish bureaucracy's insistance on birth certs for every little thing that needs to be done.

I've never been asked for my birth cert in any other country I've lived or worked in.

I cannot understand why John McGuirk would possibly care about the changing of a birth certificate for a handful of people. It's bizarre.

I'm surprised they aren't discussing the leaving cert results. The media seem to exploit that to no end year after year.

If it was anything other than a gender issue, the likes of McGuirk wouldn't bat an eyelid. He's a bigot.

Comparing revisionist historians to a small handful of people who wish to have their birth cert altered is absolutely daft.

I don't understand why this would upset anyone to be honest.
