I live in a village in the country so I can't imagine myself even getting any web design experience on an Tus to be honest.
I suppose I'll have to put myself forward for it anyway or they'll stop my jobseeker's allowance.
The next year is looking like it's going to be a bad one for me.
Jobbridge website isn't even working now.

I think lot of the welfare based websites like Jobbridge are offline for the weekend due to some upgrade or something along those lines

Just a general notice to any people involved in the programme that there was an issue with payments into bank accounts for many public & private sector workers today. ALL Tús workers are affected. BOI have stated that there will be a delay, most likely until tomorrow AM, before payments are processed.

Hi all im actually in my last week of my placement and found it fantastic. I was in the actual TUS based office on reception so my experience may differ from others who were in community host groups.

I was welcomed as part of their team from day 1, made to feel like a 'real' employee rather than a skivvy paid 20 euro a week to do the jobs no one else does. The support for once i leave has been fabulous, i applied for a grant here in office to do a training course so it has really been a stepping stone for my future.

My mother is also on a TUS placement in a different county branch, hasnt has quite the joyous 8 months (so far). She was placed in a community centred cafe for 19.5 hours a week and serves on average 3 customers a day so she actually feels like her brain cells are depleting at a rapid rate, but the work experience on paper is worth it to her.

This time last year i was hesitant to start one of these, actually i wanted to run a mile, but to anyone that has never had a job or is just stuck in a rut it is an amazing opportunity to get yourself out there and give you a boot up the backside into bigger and better things...i am proud to say i got booted hard

Finishing Tus programme this friday and have to go to social welfare office Monday. Do you lose any days pay switching back to job seekers? and is there a waiting period.

Also is there anyway to get job seekers payment direct into bank account?

know 2 people who had there interviews for the scheme.
    the interview was about 10mins
they were told that its all outdoor work, they would be cleaning up graveyards, maintain green areas in parks and council estates, and would be cleaning streets around the town for rubbish and weeds etc

they would be working week on , week off akka one week would be 39 hours then 0 hours the next week. ( day of weather not being suitable to be outdoor, the hours would have to made up in the summer months)

they would be send to do a manual handing course, safepass courses.

Before you start the scheme you have to do 6 free courses with your nearest regional training centre, you only have 5 of these in the country, we had people coming from the likes of the Aran Islands to do the training as the scheme is mandatory if you are selected.

so if someone going for the interview ,is already means that they have a job for the person and the person cant refuse this offer.

The people we had in training were told their claim would be cut if they refused, had a family member in on it, never worked a day in his life and has been on welfare since he was old enough to get it, he is now in his 50's and this will be the first job he has had, they should target more people like him.

yes but what about they saying they will try to put the person in a job witch will suit the person ....but this is a joke :) ...they would be cleaning up graveyards, maintain green areas in parks and council estates, and would be cleaning streets around the town for rubbish and weeds etc.

Cutting lawns, picking up litter, painting the council building, cutting hedges and groundskeeping.

Selection is totally random, the only qualifying criteria is you must be on the live register for 2 years continuously.

so lets say person going for the interview to d.city council is this means they will hire that person on 100%...?

    or is just the interview....

everyone who got that gateway letter is interviewed.
my local would be a county council and everyone who was called was told they be starting in September.

the City council jobs that would be skilled based and more related to degree base employed seem to be reserved for job bridge.

I'm coming to the end of my Tus placement and have a few questions if anyone can answer!

--On finishing Tus can I be called to do a Gateway scheme? If the Tus scheme is bad, then the Gateway sounds worse and I'm afraid this is what's going to happen. Can you be called to a Gateway scheme immediately on finishing Tus?

--When I was signing on I used to get paid directly into my bank account - this is how I get paid on Tus too - but I believe if I sign on again on finishing the scheme (which is unfortunately looking likely) I believe that I now have to collect social welfare at the post office every week. I'm just wondering what the process will be then if/when I sign back on - do I have to fill out forms again etc as I will be getting paid via a different method? Has anyone had to do this - switch from bank account to post office?

Also, can I collect the money at a post office of my choosing - or does it have to be my local post office? Don't really fancy having everyone at the local PO knowing my business to be quite honest!

Also, I thought the Government was moving forward with bank payments but it seems this isn't the case? Sounds like only allowing payments at the post office is going backwards rather than forwards!

Thanks in advance if anyone can answer my questions!

I have done almost a year of Tus, so if anyone has questions, I'm happy to answer. I will say that while my placement wasn't as bad as I first thought it might have been, I really didn't learn any new skills etc, so the only purpose it has served was to get me off the live register for a year.

you will have to collect at the post office, if there more than one post office in your town I think you either get the closest one to you or the ask you to choose.

they will be paper work to filled out regardless as it they be reopening your claim, what involved in this I do not know as I am currently on TUS.

maybe someone who has finished TUS could post and let people know

Technically you were still on the live register while you were doing the scheme as you were getting paid by the department of social protection, as regards Gateway you have to be fully unemployed for 2 years for them to call you for it, the year you were on the TUS scheme will count as being a year unemployed, the same goes to time spent on JobBridge.

There is only one post office in my town - so do I have to collect it there or can I choose somewhere else/in a different town? Not a fan of people knowing my business and much preferred payment into bank account and privacy that provided.

I thought that my claim would be open so wouldn't need to reapply/fill out paperwork etc.

Yes --would be good if someone had been through the post-Tus process and could inform!

So having been fully unemployed for 2+ years I can be called for Gateway straight from Tus?

    Great.

You can, but I would say that because you already did the TUS they should leave you alone for the time being anyway.

when you sign on to TUS your telling welfare to close you JSA claim ( taking you the live figures) and moving you to TUS scheme.

well I went for Job Bridge back to JSA it was one page I had to fill out and sign, which was basically just agreeing to the T+C and that I declared that my means had not changed since they did the means test.

Starting on Tús. But it's all a bit vague. Have few different things in the air at the minute, but nothing's been confirmed or concrete, even though with the way it goes I just have to hold out, to, effectively jump however high I'm told in a sense lol. But at least you can run a couple of things together they were very very clear and open about that. So if anything I'll be looking forward to earning more money at least. Even if it's not that much it's better than nothing. Now I'm just waiting and hoping that things don't go t1ts-up 'cos of the un-reliabilities and general slowness of it all.

But have to say it was a quick turnaround from Assessment and Interview to getting called for a place. Just a matter of weeks. I wasn't even really sure I'd ever hear back from them or that it might be ages away yet but that part was pretty fast when they gave me a place.

    1. No, you cannot transition directly or be called for gateway immediately following a Tus placement.

    2. Your Tus team leader should have correct paperwork to give you for an appointment with your local office on the Monday following your finish date ( typically 3 days previous as it's always a Friday ). The app should have been set up for you. Time and hatch. No waiting. Drop in the paperwork and you are back in payment that week. Paperwork is handy.

    3. Post office of your choice within reason.

    4. Not yet.

1 How long after you have finished Tus and if u are are on JSA can u be called? is there a timeframe

    2. Went to social welfare office as u said on the Monday. Was told fill out forms and bring them back Wednesday(as Tues was signing day and office packed). So I got no payment 1st week back. Should I get double payment following week?

With our County Council the people who came in for training said they went for the interview and were basically told if they did not go on the scheme they would have their claim cut, maybe different for the City Council though.

he pretty much has to choose between cutting grass and cleaning up litter or loosing his JSA.

Every second week around my town now you see about 20 people in those community council jackets picking up litter, or cutting back ditches with strimmers.
