I even have the annoying YouTube ads blocked on Mozilla.

Don't even remember the name of the app but it works great. Install it once and forget about all this...

It is actually adblock I am using :o - just shows how useful this add-on is.
You don't even remember installing it - this is how good it is:D

Adblock is fine for the annoying in your face ads. But do try to remember that a lot of sites that show them, including the very one your using here rely on those ads for their existence.

You can add filters to support those, most people won't do it though.
You can't blame them - it was the annoying ads that caused all this.

There are websites that can use ads without annoying the users - these are being penalized now by the actions of other, less thoughtful websites

Can anyone recommend a good and inexpensive car cover?

I'll be storing the BX in a garage but it's a bit damp and there is a small leak in the roof of the shed.

How inexpensive are we talking? I have one from halfords for the 900, cost me 50 quid or there abouts, nothing can get past it

That sounds about perfect. What's it called and I'll pop in and have a look?

So, like I mentioned already, my renewal papers came with a price of €950.

I just called them up to get it renewed and they asked for €720.

    Magic.

How'd you manage that at 19 in a VAGwagon?

    Fair play.

Jesus! I paid the bones of €1800 for the corollas insurance when I was 19! Fully comp though. The only car I had worth going fully comp on. You whipper snappers don't know how good ye have it :P

I paid €1795 last year which went up and down as I changed cars so I feel your pain.

Maybe because it's not diesel like most of them? Also did a fair bit of shopping around too.

Yeah but in insurance terms a 1.6 is still "fast" for a 19 y/o.

Who did you get that quote with Gvidor?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,670 ✭✭✭quadrifoglio verde

Insurance renewal in, 100 lower than last year...not bad!
Challengmaster, liberty mustn't have liked you or something, I was fearing a 50% jump.
Now to ring the rest up and see if they can beat it.

A little update on this. Spent the evening ringing around in filling in quotes online, no point in paying any more than necessary after all.

One of which was chill. Filled out the form online, renewal came back at 2k...eh thanks but no thanks. A few minutes later I get a phone call, from a rep from chill, asking how competitive their quote was. Trying not to laugh, I explained that the quote was fairly high, liberty were quoting me 995 (actually 1075, but hey worth telling them a slightly lower price:P).
Anyway she asks if i want to go for a full quote as that seems very high for 4 years nab and sure I thought why not, just so I can laugh at the silly quote at the end.
Turns out that chill, who two minutes earlier were quoting me 2k, were now quoting me 840 :cool:
The underwriter of the policy...you guessed it, liberty:rolleyes:

So moral of the story, ring around, online quotes are about as useful as tits on a bull

Is that the broker with an Asgard policy mentioned before?

They (Asgard by Insure.ie)offered me a great price few years ago - down from €2200 with Aviva to below a 1k mark with them.

The funny part is that when I tried to be insured with them again, they asked for €1500:eek: I doubt you will be with them next year tbh. Great price for a 19 yo tbh.

Not only did this guy decide to turn right on a no right turn junction but he said he would do it from the wrong side of the road too. Sorry for the crappy pic

Jaysus. Do you have a full license?

Mine was around 700 last year and I was 27 driving a fairly boring 1.4 Mercedes. I got it down to 570 or something this year.

I don't think it would be that low if I didn't.

You're right, but y'know stranger things have happened. Considering the car and your age you got a pretty good deal.

I won't mention how much my insurance is on my supposed sports car.

Anyhoo, said car is fine, reckon I was unused to driving in the inside lane of the M50 and was there due to the rain, it was horrid.

Did a run to Belfast yesterday and went like the clappers.
I love you again car :D

This should be topic of the day; gvidors insurance :pac:

In pickle news, I was in apache pizza and got talking to the rather pretty girl behind the counter, somehow cars came up and she was like, I need so much work done to my car, I casually ask what it is, the reply? "saab 9-3 aero"

    We're best friends now :pac:
