Yeah it is slower but hopefully that improves over time. If people want a stable, quick image I'd advise them to stay with one of the others for another while yet. Yes open ATV is better but its still a little buggy and prone to the odd ramdom crash.

i am seriously itching to try this but due to my lack of being able to fix anything i break i am sticking with champs ARP for now until you guys in the know give us noobs the go ahead! it sounds great though it has a lot to live up to as i dont get any trouble from ARP at all and the wife loves it which is kinda all that matters :o

It's quite stable even though it is a Beta. I suppose by saying it is a beta, it really means "don't come crying when it breaks from time to time" !!

    You want
Champions OpenATV AA2/7162 Image Download Link - http://goo.gl/j8y5fW

I took a backup and then downloaded your image and think I followed the instructions quite closely but am getting a green error screen and then the screen just crashes and bootup restarts in a cycle.

In the upgrade plugin I navigated to the parent folder containing the image file (also contains the SABTriplex folder) - i.e. it doesn't show the actual image files, but I assume once I'm in the right folder, it'll pickup the right image? It gave an installation successful message and I then clicked Exit and then hit the switch on the back of the machine, waited 10 seconds and then booted holding down Ok and then selected Enigma2.

It does show a picture of the AA2 box and then the logo with a red box inside a silver box pops up and starts spinning, but then comes the green error screen. Is there anything obvious I'm doing wrong?

No problem with the way you flashed it.

I think this is exactly what happened to Gerry Wicklow. His green screen mentioned Autobouquets so maybe delete the AB plugin folder and see if it boots then.

I'm beginning to think there are more subtle differences in the guts if these boxes. When I tried Give Credits image it referred to my box as a Golden Media Triplex ( I think). However when I tried a clean install of the same image which GC had linked to as his source it correctly said it was an AA2. Although GCs image worked it was very unstable on my box.
EDIT: Franks problem sounds the same as I had with Champs image. It would almost boot fully and then green screen before you could do anything

A-ha. We're getting somewhere. There is obviously something slightly different under the bonnet with the GM boxes. I remember too that @taytobreath has one too and it was a nightmare.

If someone wants to download and install a GM rom straight from http://images.mynonpublic.com/openatv/current/index.php?open=sparktriplex and do a bare setup on it, then take a backup of it and give it to me, I can then add all other bits to make it the same as my other images and fingers crossed, it might just work out.

I'm running the amiko nightly on my GMT, while its not perfect I'd say its no worse on my box than it would be on an amiko box.

Saying that I was planning on loading up the latest GMT nightly as I wanted it to say golden media triplex when restarting etc.(yeah I'm ocd like that!) I'll do that today and see how I get on.

Thanks for that hallo dare. That sorted it out and showed me how to use telnet. Cheers again.

Could be some truth in that ,I remember mentioning it months ago that the Triplex was more stable than the Alien 2 but someone with both receivers said they were the same .

I have always found the Triplex a very stable receiver and not encountered alot of the bugs and green screens that people on the AA2 repeatedly seem to encounter.

Google. Use the search tools to pick the size of the image you want.

Did you get any errors running opkg update?

One or two people have mentioned that here, what were the problems?

Thanks. I'd be on for doing that but I'm not sure on what exactly to do on setup so might waste some of your time going back and forth to correct errors.

I tried your latest build from this morning, no joy. Yep, green screen does reference Autobouquets. I booted into Spark, hit Menu, Plugins and thought I'd see autobouqets there and would then hit the delete button. Maybe I was staring right at it, but I couldn't see it listed.

I'm also at the point where the OH has called me on my assurance that moving to this box wouldn't lead to a similar iterative cycle to get things working that happened with Media Center, so I'm already pretty much out of time.

While I'm generally happy to go with a Beta, it not having been tested on the Amiko Alien 2 Triple Plus device itself means it may well take a bit longer before any kinks are ironed out and unfortunately I can't afford much more time on it so I'll have to forego some of the features for now.

What are the currently available images that are known to be stable with the Amiko Alien 2 Triple Plus receiver?

It started to take longer to boot up, sometimes it would freeze when booting and then it started to get stuck on a channel and wouldn't change!

I reverted to your first V4 (March 2014) always worked fine and still does!

Not much difference between the two anyway.Possibly the new sly skin or virtual zap causing it. Are you using a usb3.0 HDD?

That Sly skin is full of bugs .
I disabled Virtual Zap on Hyperion 4 ,it was using far too much memory and making the receiver slow.
Receiver is flying along now on Hyperion 4 ,I will put up a backup in the next few days if I get time.

It seems to work fine with a usb3.0 HDD but not so much with a slower one. I left the old skin in the newer backup so reverting back to the old sly skin shouldn't be any hassle for people.
