Oh a traveller thread on boards?
Got to be careful what we say now. Mods will be micro-scanning every post :pac:

Actually on the subject of boards.ie and the removal of certain posts. I just don't get it. Like boards.ie is here to make money. It's owned by Distilled Media. It's a business. Thats cool :) But how does some jackass like myself reflect the owners?

all jokes aside, the Gardaí used to send in the nuns to sort out any feuds between travellers at the halting site between Darndale and Coolock. There was always instant respect for the nuns..

I'm not sure if nuns could sort this feud out. If it's the halting site I'm thinking of pretty near Cappagh Hospital then there's a grotto with the Holy Mary standing in it right inside the entrance. If Mary herself can't keep these lads from fightin' then the nuns would have little hope.

Hmmm wonder if it's just coincidence we are almost at the 10 year anniversary of the Dunsink Lane stand-off.

Had it been you or I we would have been hauled off long ago, but yet there has not been one arrest over this.

Jaysus you can't be arresting travellers over disturbing the peace and in general causing trouble. That'd be racist. It's part of their culture you see.

I'm not reading the links, or any of the posts here. The thread title is sufficient to give me my opinion on the situation

Rant, rant, rabble, rabble.........tradition my hole :D

If you were holding up a big mirror, walking past the shelbourne and one of them happened to catch a glimpse of themselves?? :D

Are they still standing off, or did the novelty wear off? Someone ought to throw a few shovels, some gloves and a load of bags into the street, cos usually, at the first sign of a bit of work...that'd be like garlic to a vampire.

If this was any other country( bar England ). Most of the travellers would have been battered back to the stone age a long time ago. But of coarse in little old Ireland we have to put up with this nonsense.

And 'little old' England. We are not good at dealing with protesters in this country or in the UK. We are far too nicey-nincey with them, wasting money and resources playing with them.

I worked on the cappagh site when it was being built, they had a few clan wars even back then. Fun times for sure

Most of those folk are pure scum. Where I'm living has a halting site to the back of us and their lovely little off spring get up on the wall and fire marbles from slingshots towards the cars and houses they damaged a few windscreens 2 days ago they really are little dirtbags that can do as they please.

Am I the only one that think it’s ludicrous that the road is closed and countless Guards are stationed at the incident. I’d imagine it is as soul destroying for them as it is for us.

I can think as a million things I’d prefer to see them doing than refereeing a pack of buffoons playing Braveheart up on some halting site.

Either the Gardai should go in hard and make an example of them and show that society won't accept this kind of behaviour or let them go at each other which will probably work out better for society if they wipe each other out. But the Gardai just watching them is a waste of time

10 o clock news said there was an air support unit and armed Gardai on the scene. What an utter load of stupid carry on.

Could you imagine this sort of bloody nonsense in Texas, for example?? :pac::pac::pac:

Still ongoing it seems. That's a lot of Garda manpower and traffic disruption for a few dozen people.

What's new, this stuff used to go on when me and my Dad would be heading up to Dunsink dump many moons ago to dump our hedges and crap - the place was way wilder back in the bad old 80s.... ;)

There was an "actual" council dump at Dunsink way back when.. long gone now.. but was there when I was a kid..

Back in the (very)old days before the M50 and the various new link roads that whole stretch from Belcamp/Darndale through to Dunsink was a complete kip with all kinds of wild-life in residence..

This is not Dunsink lane though, it's on a very busy road between Finglas and the business parks in the Blanchardstown area, right outside Cappagh Hospital.

The Gardai are caught between a rock and a hard place. If they go in and sort them out by force, every socialist TD and activist would be hogging the airways screaming 'Garda brutality'. If they stood by and let them wipe each other out, the same people would be claiming that the Gardai have failed in their duty to protect these people, 'the most vulnerable members of society'.

These Most Vulnerable Members Of Society(TM) sure are some ornery, dangerous hombres when they want to be. :pac:

If it gets worse they may have to deploy a mobile job centre to the site to terrify them.
