Quick question lads. Daihatsu Charade 1.0 diesel van is down as a car with tax. It would be NCT'ed then, correct?

If it's a van then it is DOE'd regardless of tax class

Where does it say that? I wouldn't be so sure to be honest.

It would be painfully slow anyway. :P

Man I would love to get stopped, I am a complete pain in the neck in situations like that.

So am I, but not against customs - they are pretty much entitled to do whatever they want if they could show that it was related to their investigation
Break down doors, pull out parts etc.

Dangerous folks, you don't mess with them.

    So you're buying it then?
    Cool car imo!

I have a special kind of love for straight diesels. Plus, with you, there's always the chance of it being sprayed matte black !!

Anyone know the signs of a failing dump valve? Last owner put one on and I went to give it the beans a while ago collecting the car and there was a noise and next thing the car wont get into peak boost pressure. No dump valve noises either.

Remove it and see if it runs any better. That'll tell you quickly enough.

I got into the Megane today at 3 o'clock after it had been left in the sun for nearly 6 hours.

I literally thought I was going to suffocate and I had to leave all the doors open for 10 minutes outside work.

Velour interior is worse than leather in weather like this.

It's taking it after the turbo isn't it?

    Have a look at this.

And you only have to pay 116 euro to test it  and people complain about the nct at 50 odd euro every 2 years it's a bargain. Probably easier to pass nowadays too. No such thing as a rough van passing a cvrt test not like the old Doe's. If it's not 100 it won't pass at least you get a proper pass/ results sheet now too.

Its been 10 years since I've had a van, but I've heard a lot about the new CVRT. Might be worth a punt though, this Charade van. Low mileage on her and only two owners. I want it more for novelty than anything but it could be a keeper!

I've been reading a few threads on here this evening, (which tbh is rare for me anymore) the level of High horsery and perfect drivers posting is becoming very hard to take.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,845 ✭✭✭Noccy_Mondy

Mad tailbacks out the Galway road of Tuam this evening (traffic entering Tuam). Row of traffic from that junction at Stapletons Expert shop all the way out to the Headford Road junction  (Those of you familiar with Tuam will understand). Longest tailback I've ever seen. Luckily I was going the other way.

    Paint and lacquer is it?

I've absolutely no idea, it's all very vauge, it seems to be better than cellulose paint anyways and you can stick it on with a brush too

And is it a touch up thing (30ml or so) you want or a larger quantity?

Yeah I struggle with that too, it's a forum for car enthusiasts, and I'm not the perfect driver, I've no points/convictions, but I wouldn't be known for driving in a sedate manner.

I'd a conversation with a colleague yesterday and the amount of work they have to do to get their car through the NCT is horrific, basic stuff like brakes/shocks, I think sometimes in here when those of us who put even a small bit of time into our cars see posts, we can react badly.

Ladies thanks, once we past puberty and can drive :pac:
