    Mert, Vlaar, Shawcross
    Mata, Eriksen, Sterling, Ramsey
    Costa, Long, Sturridge

    Given, Albrighton, Bruce, Luna.

I don't get the love for Vlaar here is the reality.

He was fantastic in the world cup with a team that was solid at the back.

He is going back to Villa beside poor defenders who are set up poorly and will leak goals. I can't see him scoring very high.

Also will Long even be first choice i am not so sure.

Rumours he is going to Tottenham- If it doesn't happen Mariappa can come in

Sterling is overpriced and wont get his game week in. Siggy is gone back to Swansea and looks a better should. As does Arnie for Stoke or Tadic for Southampton. Even De Jong at Newcastle once you look past their opening fixture they have a nice run. Rest of the team is solid.

I started tinkering with my team to see how it'd look with Rooney in for RVP and 2.0 in extra cash to play with. It's now some time later, I've got a headache, I'm pretty sure it looks worse and I'm way more confused than when I started. Reminds me a little of Father Ted and the dent in the car :pac:

I've tried, fairly unsuccessfully, to stop messing with my team so ridiculously early. Last nights friendly just shows how pointless all this tinkering really is till closer to GW1. One United friendly and LVG interview and it's back to the drawing board!!

Anybody think anything of his trying to fit Rooney in with the easy start and it looking like he will play up front.

    Anybody?

Here's my 1st draft (more like 20th :p). Any thoughts? Ignore the subs and Diakite, they're place holders for the time being.

Edit: if Rafael starts in the RWB position I will swap him for Shaw, and possibly replace Barkley with Eriksen

Any thoughts on this. It's my second main draft so far.

    FF14_15_Draft5.png

Downgraded the midfield (Silva, Mata out for Shelvey and Albrighton) and upgraded the strike force (Rooney, Dzeko in for Wickham and Weimann).

Would mainly play 3-4-3 with Taylor and Cameron rotating as appropriate at the back. (Same with the keepers obviously).

Would like to have Shaw instead of Rafael though (especially if the 5-3-2/3-4-1-2 comes to pass).

A very noticeable increase in the number of teams with rooney in them today

Who doesn't love a good bandwagon eh? Rooney captain, Lamela vice captain and Can as the new Ramsey :)

Ye defo the first bandwagon of the season. Was always going to happen with Rvp not back in training. Rvp to grab a couple on his comeback game to really mess with people's heads.

lallana is not locked in. Giroud/Dzeko could be switched to Bony depending on teams. I have .5 available if I decide to switch arfield for a 4.5 midfielder too.

Only having one team makes you think more, you only have one chance. You become obsessive over your transfers. If there is a choice of four players you have to pick one, REALLY pick one. Not put one in each of your teams and declare yourself a genius when one comes off. Having the balls to punt on a player and it coming off is the thing that I respect the most around here.

It is not boring to have one team. It is the reason that we come here to chat and debate and become attached to our choices. Having more than one team gives you scope to cheat on those choices and the other players. You can post whatever rule you want but in the end you are only cheating on your own enjoyment of the game.

I would suggest that you try having one team and doing it properly and I guarantee you will enjoy it more than having four teams.

    Ok

I have listen to wise council of the FF supporters and fellow players and have deleted 2 Accounts

I now play 1 and my son plays 1 which I advise him on but he makes the final choice/s and it is in his name .

I have always played games in the sprit of the game and I was unaware I was playing against the rules and for that I apologise unreservedly .

Thanks you to all members for pointing out my error .

I'm not understanding the Vlaar love. He had a great world cup, but he's playing for Villa. The other 3 defenders are shíte. He'll lose his cleansheet bonus nearly every week. Waste of 4.5m if ya ask me.

He is a starter and im hoping he will transfer to another club but as you say he is a liability .

Defence seems fine to me. Of the top 6 and 7 teams, usually you've only 1 or 2 that actually manage to bring in the regular clean sheets. Last season a little bit of an exception but even still.

I have changed Ferdinand to Cameron ( stoke ) looks a tad better but I was more concerned with my attacking line up and which one looks a better choice .

Villa got 9 clean sheets last year, which is basically 25% of their games. Vlaar is captain so will play every week. If you bench him against the top 6 clubs and tough away games you will probably be left with about a 40% chance of a clean sheet (and bonus points) when you do play him. Can't beat that for £4.5m. I would likely have him in my team regardless of his World Cup performance

I suppose as a back-up on the bench he's worth it. Still wouldn't feel confident playing him as a starting player in my back four.

I usually have 3 strong defenders, one £4.5m and one £4m, so Vlaar fits in perfectly. I had him for a decent chunk of last season and it worked out well.

What about Cameron compared to him? Cameron an unlikely starter?

Vlaar' stock has definitely risen after World Cup, O Shea & Brown both had 10 clean sheets last season and only 8% of player own O Shea & 0.4% of players own Brown compared to Vlaar with 25%.

Yeah, I just don't think one can be totally sure what Poyet will do with his defence all the same.

Wes Brown was also sent off about 27 times last season!!

Cameron should start but Stoke have brought in Bardsley as well, so Hughes has the option to rotate now (or even move him inside with shawcross?). He's not a nailed on starter like Vlaar is at Villa.
