vermaelan seems to be almost a done deal, arsenal are delaying it until they have signed suitable cover, Vidal seems like the big deal on the cards and I would expect one other signing

Is that coming from your "Source"

unless you have been hiding under a rock it is common knowledge we are in for both of them, vidal even mentioned man utd and wenger has acknowledged that vermaelen wants to leave, destination more than likely Utd

And the club has confirmed these items of common knowledge of course???

Could you advise me of that press release?

As far as i was aware our manager didn't name check them at his press conference last week??

Of course the club didn't. Groundskeepr Willie told bangkok all about United's planned signings.

Wait, there's a groundskeeper now? I thought there was only Bobby Charlton, SAF, Ed Woodward, The Glaziers, Van Gaal, the coaching staff, the players and of course the tea lady.

when have man utd ever confirmed transfer dealings before a player actually signed?

when has a manager ever confirmed transfer targets to the press??

I presume you know that's not the way it works.

I would say 99.9% of posters in here as well with the media and general football fans would agree that we have made contact with Juve and vidal over a move and with vermaelen and arsenal over a move

Ive heard from Vermaelen and Vidals neighbours that the deal is more or less done, apparently both players were spotted buying travel soaps in their local shops, sparking the rumours that they have the flights booked to manchester ;)

    I don't agree, so we're already below 99.9%.

Arsene Wenger has admitted he is uncertain whether reported Manchester United target Thomas Vermaelen will be at Arsenal next season.
Vermaelen, 28, said earlier this month that he plans to hold talks with his club as he continues to stall over whether to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium. "I cannot guarantee he will stay, but should he go I would bring another centre-back in for sure," Wenger told the club's official website after Arsenal's 2-0 friendly win at Boreham Wood.

Nope. Just like I don't think there was ever any contact with Sneijder in 2011. This is 2014's Sneijder.

If you're going to keep coming back pretending to be ITK time and time again you're gonna' be ridiculed. And rightly so imo.

Agreed, but I tend to err on the side of skepticism. Saves me from getting my nickers in a twist over things that were never likely to happen.

The problem for Liverpool is they look like doing the same as Spurs did with the Bale money.

That's a bit of a lazy point of view though. Liverpool had a squad of 13/14 players they could rely on last season, everybody knew the squad was tiny (plenty of United fans I'm sure commented the same) so they are using money to rightfully add to it. If we've decent back up in each position I'll be happy enough, we really didn't have that last season in CM and attack. We were lucky in that the injuries we got where at the back, where we had back up. Still could do with upgardes/competition and we seem to be doing that going on the latest reliable journos.
    Chelsea/City

    Arsenal

    Utd/Pool/Tottenham

With current squads thats how i'd see it playing out. United are probably the most likely to spend big between now and the end of the transfer window imho as they have the revenue stream to facilitate it. Utd are still are huge draw and money talks Monaco/PSG/City/Anzhi. United have a bigger and more recent rep than any of those clubs.

Well Liverpool have spent £50 Million odd already with Remy looking a cert, and from all reliable reports another £60/70 Million minimum is there, which is big spend in anybodies terms. I still think we need to buy one player at a level higher than we've got so far, CM or striker for me, and it seems the money and interest from the club is there. Wages will always be our stumbling block though, we just can't offer a new signing 150k just like that.

United are still a big draw and any sensible Liverpool fan will say the same. Just wish ye'd kept Moyes despite me posting here to point out why he should go! LVG makes up for a lot of the draw backs of no CL.

United will have no European distractions though and I can't see any major rotation, I think ye could well be in the top 3 or my pessimistic scenario, the top 4 get a big gap to the rest with us in 5th as we struggle with balancing CL and EPL.

Liverpool and United are coming from similar but different angles! Both need additions to the squad, though for different reasons, both have money to spend in relative budget terms and both face certain limitations. Liverpool wages and location, United no CL, though there's a lot going for both to counteract that.

Sorry for the pool talk, that post ended up longer than expected.

True, but it's gone overboard when people are using the fact that LvG hasn't talked about any of those players, or the club released a press release about them as evidence that we've no interest. When does that ever happen?

But from what I have said plenty of effort is being made to get deals done and think we will get least 1 big name.

    Bull..
Said poster has a history of ITK proclamations...all of which we could make
Claimed to have a source at carrington
Claimed deals for Kroos and Shaw we're about to be finalised a month before Shaw signed
Claiming deals for other players are close

Any poster on here could do this but don't as most have the "Common sense" and wait and see approach to allow the club to do their business..

We all know how the club operates so saying to the contrary is being silly and repeatedly doing so makes it even worse

Respected posters on here never make these claims and thats why they are respected as such

Spoofers should be called out as such..
