There's an interview with The Equalizer on MUTV at 7pm, might be interesting.

There's an interview with The Equalizer on MUTV at 7pm, might be interesting.

Here is an excerpt from the interview, Ed's opinions on LVG...

"He's got incredible energy and very importantly he likes attacking football. If you remember the Barcelona team [he managed] in the late '90s, who played incredible, attacking football, and those games we had against them in '98/99, that’s the kind of football Manchester United fans love. It’s part of our DNA," explained Woodward.

"The second part of what he likes is giving youth a chance. He’s got a track record littered with giving young players a break in the first team, who have gone on to be stars. Clearly that’s Manchester United’s philosophy and we want him to continue with that.

"I’ve personally found him very warm. He’s a very clear communicator and very direct. I like that in people; I’m a very direct person myself. He’s a stickler for planning and that’s something we as a club do very well. We plan everything in a lot of detail and that’s going to be a good fit.
"We’ve got someone who has confidence in himself about making difficult decisions and, when you boil down what makes a great manager, one of the key characteristics is making difficult decisions and we’ve clearly got a manager who can do that.

"I’m hearing a lot of good feedback from a lot of people about him and there is a huge amount of goodwill towards him and the coaching staff," added Woodward. "Every interaction he’s having with people is leaving an imprint, which is superb."

The executive vice-chairman also spoke of the importance of having Ryan Giggs involved in van Gaal's regime.

"It was a very easy conversation to have [with Louis] about Ryan. He said he wanted Ryan to be in his group," Woodward added. "It’s very important to us as a club that we have continuity and Ryan is the perfect person to continue that continuity. He did a great job in the set-up last year and has obviously been at the club for a long time, so we’re very pleased about that.

"There is real unity in the squad and Louis clearly has something to give in terms of the special way he has with his players when it comes to binding the team together. We’ve seen that already with the steps he’s taken with the preparation and the training and the things going on around that. He’s going to deliver exactly what we expect him to deliver and in conjunction with Ryan, who has that great understanding of all these players."

Annoyed about LA and Inter, but thrilled that the Real and the Roma games are one at decent times.

The Bray match was fairly disappointing. I enjoyed it, but the lads really didn't impress. The best player on the pitch was Bray striker Ishmail Akinade for me. Bebe was awful, and I was disappointed with Pereira as well. Lawrence, Sanko and Petrucci had some nice touches but nobody produced anything.

Anyone catch the Woodward interview on MUTV lads? Caught the last 2 min where he said he wanted to see an end to the biggest players going to the Spanish clubs rather then United.

"....A-list players want to come here, there will be new players, we will get back to the top - watch this space"

"We are doing all it takes to be back up to the top of table & we are WILLING to invest absolutely"

"Our financial strength allows us to do things in the transfer market that other clubs cannot do."

"...last year was a blip, it won't happen again"

"..the difference in Louis is that he has a blueprint for success, it's what he does...success"

"We're continuing to move forward on Louis' targets, there is a lot going on behind the scenes, watch this space."

"...the reality is there will be a number of players who will be leaving

"We're out here in LA, soon as we landed I'm thinking of the deals we're doing in next few weeks"

said it the other day, it would be ridiculous if the club didn't use the money available as an advantage over the likes of Liverpool and Spurs to get back in the top 4

There's going to be more players coming in no doubt, it's just a matter of who

He talks a big game now lets if he can actually back it up.

Its the usual bravado talk from a CEO in charge one of the biggest clubs in the world. The same with David Gill i.e if the manager wants a player we will back him 100% etc. Its really the Glazers who have the final say. Unless we see a big name player sign before the end of the window I reckon all this talk is just to please the fans. I feel LVG will get the best out of the current crop and will get us that top 4 place finish next season without having to spend more money, but I would love to see reinforcements added tot he first team i.e as everyone knows a new CB and MF is required

Do we still have hope for Petrucci?

Adidas did that huge kit deal saying they expect sales of United's Adidas gear to reach £1.5 billion over the ten years.

United have to buy the big names not just for the club but to justify the Adidas deal. It is a minimum £750 million deal meaning higher sales equals more revenue for United.

I believe Ed is intending on backing up his words. United are only getting huge money because they are expected to deliver.
If United fail their next shirt deal will be lower.
Signing superstars/ big names combined with success sell shirts.
Ed simply talked about how they will deliver on the field and off it.

Even in our darkest days last season I was remaining somewhat positive so you could just imagine how happy a decent transfer window would make me :D
