If that transfer to Benfica is true then fair play to Bebe. Delighted for him.

Mail on Sunday are saying United will sign Daley Blind, initially as cover for Shaw and Carrick, his father Danny Blind was one of Van Gaal's assistants at the world cup.
They also say Strootman by January at the latest.

Elsewhere we are linked with Roberto Firmino who is a number 10 but can also play right or left wing, the 22 year old Brazilian scored 16 goals and 12 assists for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga last season.

Just reading this article on the BBC and towards the end they mention how van Gaal taking the players for a walk on the Santa Monica beach so that they could "get their muscles moving" after their long flight and how this supposedly "shows how experienced he is".

Now, I am pretty excited to see what van Gaal does at United and he's definitely a top coach but the press are really going over board talking him up, every single thing he does is somehow an act of genius. From the Krul substitution to his changes against Mexico and now his walk on the beach, why are the press so anxious to talk him up? I mean, even I like to take a walk after a long flight to get the legs moving, am I now some sort of physiological mastermind? Wasn't one of Moyes's first errors at United that he took the players for a walk along Bondi beach, also to "stretch their legs" according to this article, but as United walked along the beach they were mobbed by fans. This was supposedly a sign that Moyes was out of his depth but I fail to see any difference between that and van Gaal walking along Santa Monica beach. Both are extremely popular beaches. Had United been mobbed by fans on Santa Monica would it be put down to van Gaal being "out of his depth" or would it just be marked down as a coincidence or, it seems to me more likely, not even mentioned at all.

The press are creating a narrative for LvG, he's a genius plain and simple. The Moyes narrative was that he was a nice guy but out of his depth at United. Whatever happens this season, regardless of results, will be interpreted through the lens of LvG the genius while everything last season was interpreted through the lens of David Moyes the out of his depth bumbler. I wonder who will get the blame in the press if LvG fails? It won't be him that's for sure. It's pretty bizarre.

Eh, sorry for the long ramble, just a thought that had been knocking around in my head so thought I'd stick it up here and see if anyone agrees or if I'm just being a bit silly :-)

Didn't khedira do his ACL. Looked to have recovered well at re recent wc

Yeah plenty of people do these days, but a decent chance remains that there won't be a full recovery.

There's actually a new surgical technique that involves repairing the ligament rather than replacing it, which wasn't possible before, but it's only in the trial phase at the moment and is still three years or so away. Supposedly it is a much less gruelling surgery with a better success rate.

Apparently Lazios bid for Stefan de Vrij has fallen flat, leading to more speculation that we might put in a bid for him.

Was hardly going to happen, though, it was just after sunrise looking at the photos (and you wouldn't want to be walking around there in summer in a suit in the middle of the day) and it's the USA where they think throwing a ball around is 'football'.

Getting outdoors in the daylight as soon as possible after you land is good for the jet lag, too.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

Manchester United offers Vidal salary Van Persie

Chile is the obsession of the "Reds Devils"

While Manchester United start a tour in Los Angeles, United States, the leadership of the English club works full for reinforcements who wants the new coach Louis van Gaal.
In that list, one of the priorities is the Chilean Arturo Vidal. And to achieve this, the "Reds Devils" are willing to offer the Chilean at least the same salary of Robin van Persie: 18 million dollars annually.
The intention of the British box is fast reaching an agreement with the player, even before Juventus, owned her pass. For this they are willing to exceed the salary flywheel receives Chilean World Cup today's most popular box Italy.
After renew until 2017, Vidal became the highest-paid player template of Turin, with revenues approaching U.S. $ 15 million per season.
Result of the business, "King Arthur" is transformed along with Dutch striker in the second highest paid of red. Highest salary is Wayne Rooney, who after renewing his contract receives $ 27 million annually.
The main stumbling block is another. Aside from the $ 67 million that Juventus set to sell as floor-although sporting director Giuseppe Marotta said that "the player is not for sale", "Juve" need-to cash, the state of the operated knee Arturo Vidal remains concerned in Manchester.
It is more. Officials of the "Red Devils" have made several calls to physicians Chilean team to tell them how it is really the meniscus after the operation he underwent the wheel on May 7 last and participation Brazil in the World Cup, which was infiltrated everyday.
However, the crack of the Red has already some signs that would not follow the "Vecchia Signora", because according to the Italian press published, "Celia Punk" sold the house where he lived in Turin, and all statements has made after World has avoided ratifying its continuity in the Italian champions.
    $ 27 million
is the current salary of Wayne Rooney in Manchester United. It is by far the best paid footballer in the red insert.

United offers Vidal Van Persie's salary, the Dutchman makes $18m a year. Juventus expect the British club to put $67m on the table, but the state of his knee remains an issue.

Not sure why they're using US dollars...

Apprently Nedved (Juve director) said this -
"Certainly, if there was a high bid [for Vidal], we would have to think about it." [via Gazzetta dell Sport]

Apprently Nedved (Juve director) said this -
    http://www.football-italia.net/52367/nedved-juve-keep-vidal-and-pogba

Pavel Nedved assures Juventus “want to keep Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba,” but sided with Luis Suarez over Giorgio Chiellini.
The former player is now a member of the Board of Directors and spoke to Denik Sport in the Czech Republic.
“Anyone who thinks Antonio Conte resigned due to the transfer strategy is wrong. Our plan is clear: we want to keep all our best players, including Vidal and Pogba.
“We don’t want to sell anyone, especially not Vidal. Of course, if a particularly high offer arrived then we’d have to think about it, but we don’t want to sell our champions.
“We want to be competitive in the Champions League and the only sales will be players who are not part of our plans.”
There were reports in the Italian media last night that Vidal had put his house in Turin up for sale, fuelling rumours of a move to Manchester United.
Nedved surprisingly sided with Uruguay striker Suarez after his four-month ban for biting Italy and Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini.
“I was very angry with Chiellini for his reaction, as he behaved like a child showing the bite mark to the referee.
“I talked about it with Beppe Marotta and I’ll discuss it with him directly. In any case, Giorgio showed intelligence over the next few days when he asked FIFA to reduce the ban.
“Suarez is a great player and I’d sign him straight away for Juventus. In fact, we were on the verge of getting him two years ago and I was fully in agreement. He’s a champion and that is all.
“I have played on the pitch, so I know what it’s like to have a little tantrum.”
Suarez has now completed his move from Liverpool to Barcelona for €74m.

Definitely cannot agree on the media narrative for Moyes, at least until the very, very end. He had every conceivable excuse made for him and was given free pass after free pass on the media.

    - The shambolic transfer window was 'unlicly' and not his fault, but hey... HE GOT FELLAINI! In truth both he and Woodward were each massively to blame, though Ed has done a good job making amends in more recent times, and both did deserve a slight let off due to Ferguson and Gill each leaving together.

    - The early terrible results were just "unlucky", when they were a direct result of his awful, 90s tactics and small club mentality that led to hit sh***ing his pants and telling the team to revert into a shell the moment we had a lead.

    - It wasn't his fault we were doing so poorly, it was the players. Now nobody is going to argue we had a top end squad last year, but it was the exact same team (plus Fellaini) that Ferguson had finished on 89pts with two straight years, one of which was without van Persie. By the time he was sacked if I recall Moyes was on pace for 62pts.

    - The players were being unprofessional and trying to sabotage him by not putting in any effort. Which completely ignored that fact that this developed throughout the season due to idiotic things like playing Ferdinand into the ground early in the year (he was still a good defender if used sparingly) and putting a very physical/fitness based emphasis on training rather than training and to hinge. This included for older players like Giggs and Ferdinand and guaranteed running them into the ground before any games even kicked off. The immediate replacing of Rene Meulensteen (one of the finest coaches in the world) to "make his mark" was a great example of this and conveniently was never mentioned.

    - He was lauded for his successes in Europe which involved topping a very weak group, just about barely squeezing by Olympiakos in the knockouts and finally going out to Bayern admittedly in somewhat admirable fashion.

    - Finally comments like "we are happy with a draw, Cardiff is a tough place to come to" and "we hope to some day be ad good a football club as Man City" by and large got a free pass, but that is where the media began to turn on him. Even after Giggs' first game in charge there were a lot of comments about "see, it wasn't Moyes' fault! Just the players not doing g their part for him" etc etc.

    ---

Who knows what we will see with LvG of things go wrong, but he has shown a continuity and respect to the club with Giggs being retained, Butt and Scholes looking like they may have roles, his teams' styles of play typically synch up well with how Man Utd traditionally approach the game, and he has a big, proud personality much like Ferguson on top of achieving success everywhere he has gone Barri g his first stint as Dutch manager (I would consider third place with that team this year as a success). That's is very different to what we saw from when Moyes came in, and positively so.

Lots of changes for the second half. 11 I think.

James Wilson and Tom Lawrence are also playing second half.
