Seems very pricey alright, mine is 550ish with 6 years ncb too!

My 207 GT 1.6t is costing me 390e fully comp with NCB protected

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,925 ✭✭✭GvidoR

How does the NCB protection work?

    Simple.

(Long story short) - you hit someone/something, damage your car, your fault. Got your car repaired claiming your fully comp insurance and keep your NCB next time. :)

    It won't if you're good negotiator. :p

You've very little to negotiate with though. Many insurance companies don't recognise a protected NCB from another insurer. You've still had an accident/claim within the last 3/5 years.

    Yeah, 2005 E46 320Cd.

Joys of being under 25 I guess.

Brokers were at least another 100 on top of that, with increased excess and restrictions for U25's. Then quotes from the like of Axa, Aviva, chill etc were all laughable at over €2k.

Really? I'll getting quotes of around 1k on a 525i at 21 next April! Is it because it's a Coupe?

So, a friend wants me to look at his jeep a 3.0 diesel toyota hilux surf, when he shifts down gear the jeep nearly cuts out only happens when its hot, the gearbox was changed from a 2.5 version apparently and a bit of work done to make it fit

tldr? jeep nearly cuts out when changing down gears no idea what the cause is

Some strange risk assessment, I guess

Definitely nothing to do with gearbox or clutch, is there an idle control sensor on them? Maf sensor or the likes, that'd be where i'd be looking.

Anyone know where I can buy strong 3M double-sided foam tape?

My insurance on the ST with 123.ie was 550 with every available extra last year got a renewal quote for 1050 on the S60.

What a joke, going FBD this time for 560 with all extras.

A friend's daughter bought a car in Mayo last night for €3k.

Car blew up last night about 20 minutes after doing a cash deal.

Now the owner won't answer the phone. After a bit of investigation from me, unsurprisingly he's a dodgy dealer type.

Looking at about a €700 repair now.

In a way I feel bad, but ffs if she had paid for an actual mechanic to look at the car she could have saved a lot of money.

    Head gasket blew apparently.

I've got a tow truck down to collect it. I'll assess it then.

So it arrived about an hour ago. It actually looks like a nice car for the money; it was really tidy inside and out, had 4 good brand tyres, 2 years test and 3 months tax. I did notice the thermostat housing was new and there was no water in the tank when I lifted the bonnet. Timing chain kit, head gasket with bolts etc and water pump all comes to €210. I'll probably get a start on it this evening.

Sorry, not now, I'll take a few pics of it all tomorrow.

I feel so sorry for the girl who bought it, she's in tears about it :(

Nothing a swift team of lads showing up to the cuntz house wouldn't at least help!
    Wouldn't be the first time!

I hate that thing of doing someone else over, how can they live with themselves :(
