I have a serious caffeine addiction, I drink about 15-20 espresso shots per day so no it is not over rated. If I wake up late for work I'll not leave the house till the coffee brews otherwise I'm in poor form for the day and my work rate suffers

It's the gang of muppets who deem it fashionable to go parading a Starbucks cup around on their way to work.

Starbucks sell tea too. How do you know which cup paraders to let irritate you? Or are people who buy tea in cafe's "muppets" too?

Maybe it isn't the coffee, maybe it's just paper cups that annoy you.

Surely, it would be nicer to have it at your desk.

How do you get it from whereever you buy it to your desk without "parading" it on your way to work?

I worked with these people, dozens of them. It was never tea. Seems I hit a nerve.

If I feel like the taste of a decaf, I bring it in, in a modest flask in my backpack.

It only takes about 5 days to overcome a caffeine addiction, so if you're that addicted, it wouldn't be any harm to try and overcome it, or cut down on it.

Coffee is a waste of time compared to going for a run or a swim in the morning to wake you up and keep you going for the day, though.

Coffee is great. Making it gives me an extra few minutes a day where I'm not working.

I don't know - I've never had coffee and had maybe 2 sups (as opposed to cups) of tae in my life.

Coffee. The most important meal of the day.

    \ thread.

It's handy if you want to poo.

I have no problems on that score, thank you for your concern though.

Out of my way, I need to RUN to get a choco mocha cappa bullsh*t thing before I catch my train!

Hold on, I'll just stick my sunglasses on top of my head as I'm in a whilrl!

OK, I've got my frapa capa thing...mmmmm....oh that's good coffee, but you know you can't get good coffee in this country.

When I was on the J1 in Toronto, I did the coffee run for the guys and they had this nice, like shop somehwere down the street, think it was called Waynes Coffee, or something, nothing like Starbucks, it was DIVINE!

I'm in my super stressful job, it's like I need the adrenaline, and I just NEED my coffee in the morning or I don't function, OUT OF MY WAAAYYYY!!!!

Saying it better than I ever could.
    Bravo.

I agree with the OP. There's nothing more frustrating than delaying starting work or a task because someone "hasn't had a coffee yet". It's hot water and a few f*cking berries. I was in a meeting a few weeks ago and vetoed a few people ducking out for "a quick coffee" and I swear to God the heads on them were priceless. Needing a hot drink to start work is a load of effete and limp-wristed b*llocks.

You'd swear it was f*cking methamphetamine the way people go on about it.

    Exactly.

Paraders typically hold the cup high enough for everyone to see.

I like coffee. But most of all, I find the word funny for some odd reason.

    "Coffee". Hehehe

Or in New York - "Cawfeee"

Thankfully so, considering it's filled with near boiling water. Should definitely be kept visible for other pedestrians for safety reasons.

Only people nearby need to see it, no need to hold it at chest level or above.

Let me say again(for the third time) I have nothing against coffee.I drink it myself and because I do I know that whether I have a cup or not it doesnt affect my day one iota. All this talk of needing a coffee before being able to function is in the head.Maybe my workplace is worst than most but I've seen it loads of times when new young guys but mostly gals, start working here they are not drinking coffee like the 'muppets' do to begin with but after a few days with them they are just the same.Parading around with their coffees, trying to create the impression that they are busy doing something.Maybe some of them do it as a way of fitting in?
Someone else decsribed it well when they mentioned that you'd swear they were on mdma. The actual affect doesnt bear any resemblence to how much people go on about it.That is my main point.

tbh I used to say stuff like that, while on the odd occasion it was true it's mostly nonsense

I knocked coffee on the head there a few months ago to no noticeable effect

    I like coffee.

This modern coffee culture gets on my wick though. If it isn't some hipster ballbag calling himself a barista and going on about single estate beans, then it's some neckbeard in work shítting on about his aeropress. More than likely before he takes his 'brew' and sits down at his laptop to write a self-congratulating post on the atheism forum about how enlightened he feels. It's a hot drink.

This fits in to a wider culture of people wanting to let everyone know how busy they are, even if they aren't.

I'm pretty sure I didn't need coffee to study for my Leaving Cert. So I'm not quite sure how I ended up being so dependent on it for college exams.

I stopped drinking coffee with breakfast and I limit myself to an afternoon coffee (to be social). I'm functioning just fine.

Wow come in to a coffee thread to have a pop at atheists. Kudos.

Which goes hand in hand with threads like this, illustrating a wider culture of people wanting everyone to know how offended or annoyed they are, even if what they're giving out about has SFA to do with them, as is the case here.

That will never happen. I actually like whiskey. Really good whiskey that is. Neat.

I like frappuccinos in this weather. Apparently there's 1000 times the rda of sugar in them, so naturally enough I add extra cream to counteract that!
