The people laughing at my suggestion that Arabs don't need Israel as an excuse to kill. The kill each other just fine.

    Just like in:

    Syria
    Iraq
    Afghanistan

    Libya
    Egypt

As to the notion that Israel's survival is laughable? I don't think so.

    Arabs?.

Walking through town saturday evening, I happened to walk past one of those palestine solidiarity support groups, where they had a petition and a stall asking people to sign their petition to expell the israili ambassador, I politely declined and kept walking, my view of it is its a conflict outside Ireland that has nothing to do with Irish domestic affairs where I take neither side, if you re gonna campaign about something, campaign about homelessness/rising rent prices/water charges, campaign about something that is an issue for people here.

Many of the people involved in those groups are socially aware and do campaign for those less fortunate then ourselves here in Ireland.

Is it not possible to do both?

That was the plan when Israel elected Ehud Baraks government, he began by disengaging from Lebanon at first, then Gaza and granting them limited autonomy, including free sea and air ports. He also agreed to halt the settlements in the WB but not to a pull out.

But Arafat thought opening a second intifada seemed like a better idea.

That's the problem always. Ehud Barak's moderate Israeli government did do their best but then Arafat caved into extremists in his own camp to try and get further concessions. This in turn fueled more extremism on both sides and the continued bad feeling and hatred.

Always, just when hope appears, some unhelpful idiot is always there to derail things. It is the same in Iran: Hassan Rouhani is met by stubborn judiciary and military junta along with corrupt priests who all fear for their future under a more moderate Iran. It is the same everywhere in the Middle East. Hardliners protecting their own patch and causing trouble.

Your post left me gobsmacked. Perhaps if we could all try not de-humanizing other races / religions / etc. the world would be a bit happier.

I think it was meant as a joke anyway but maybe I'm wrong.

I thanked it cause I saw it as light hearted humour, and no I'm not a racist as I said you shouldn't be getting caught up over it yourself.

Not getting drawn into an argument over a post I thanked.

I think it's time for Hamas to consider a career change. As terrorists they suck major ass. Almost as bad as the IRA.

Well if you re working full time or in college full time, you won,t have time to help out in numerous campaigns, going to meetings/campaigning etc, you only can give and volenteer so much of your time, where you have to and prioritise whats more worth and deserving volenteering your time to, for me domestic issues are more important then external issues.

Plenty of people in need here, people homeless, kids going to school hungry etc, charity begins at home first before any charity abroad.

    where would they go ?

Sometimes a legitimate authority needs to restore order so they order a curfew and restricts everyone to their homes to allow the police/defence forces to operate without harming civilians

In Gaza, If sky's reports are accurate (and that's a big 'if') the Israelis order the Palestinians to leave their homes and take to the streets, one presumes this is in order to maximise the number of civilian casualties

Those who remain at home and get killed are to blame for not following the orders to leave their homes.

Those who are on the streets and get killed are killed because 'Hamas was hiding amongst them'

    Chomsky(2017) on the Republican party

"Has there ever been an organisation in human history that is dedicated, with such commitment, to the destruction of organised human life on Earth?"
