This morning I just noticed this nettle growing on a broken branch of tree which had fallen into the Liffey!

Sorry to anyone who voted - but I deleted the earlier 'egret photos' - the blown out whites were doing my head in.
( I will try to improve them in photoshop tomorrow )

    Hi Splish,
The Common Figwort was a plant I saw for the first time in Pollardstown Fen several years ago.It was growing along a well trodden pathway, but when the NPWS decided to upgrade the pathways a couple of years ago,they/their contractors unwittingly covered up the area where they were growing and sadly I've not seen this plant there since then!:(

Yeah - I think his nose is a bit out of joint as Canoe Ireland are doing a lot of excavation/rock placing work* around 'his' weir at Lucan Demesne in order to build a 'hanging slalom'course.

    It's a juvenile Long-tailed Tit.
The red ring around the eyes is more pronounced on younger birds.

Yup, a lovely little family of them were passing through the garden. This one is a bit ruffled looking as it was preening.
