We should be able to take them, they're currently third from bottom in their 10 team league.
They qualified as Cup runners-up, not league position last year. Were beaten 2-0 last week.

    Halftime, and no goals.

    Full time; no goals.

We were badly lacking again in the final third and there is also a noticable lack of physical conditioning throughout the team. The lads we're running on fumes for the last twenty minutes. Then again maybe it was mad hot out there but we do have a couple of porkers in the team. One too many for a supposedly full time set up imo.

All I can say is that I hope Banga are poor travellers, because this tie can still go either way.

Sad to say, 2 sh1t teams on display.
2nd leg could go either way.

With hindsight I really don't think we played all that badly. I was impressed with our composure in the middle of the park for the first 70 minutes, we just lacked the killer touch (story of our season, says you). And composure will be the watchword in the return leg.

We can't afford to panic if we don't score early in the game. If we adopt a gung-ho attitude they will, in all likelihood, pull us apart on the counter attack. Eastern European sides are expert at that - even the not so great ones like Banga.

Also, is it just me, or has North come back from the mid-season break even more overweight than before?

Tickets been on sale since before the draw was made. You can get them from the showgrounds.

First home match for new manager John Coleman tonight, hopefully the crowd will be there in good numbers to welcome him.

Ground slowly filling for this evenings EL Match. The tickets available on the gate though seem to be an unfortunate sign of the clubs form so far this season.

Good effort from the stadium commentator at announcing the names of the FK Banga players, but he should really have told the Forzas to take down the Ivory Coast flag.

    :D

    Edit.

They now have it the right way.

Derry looks like the best bet. 4-0 up from their first leg, then our self's at 0 all, finally Dundalk trailing 2-0.

They won the first leg 2 nil mate. Fancy them big time to win 4-0 tonight.

But they may make changes if the tie is safe early on as the play Rovers in a top of the table clash on Sunday

Derry 2 up in Wales now..Sligo have the hardest job ( obviously!) as an away goal would real put it up to them.

Realise that now after reading the match program wrong.

We have had the best chances so far, even if the Banga keeper is over acting his save attempts.

2 nil to Rovers against 10 men Banga. Rosenborg will be a totally different prospect in the next round.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,294 ✭✭✭✭Mint Sauce

Danny North makes it 3 for Rovers.

    Well done Sligo.

Best of luck in the next round.

The Galway lads did all the work as usual.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,620 ✭✭✭AllGunsBlazing

We don't have a prayer against Rosenberg but that doesn't really matter. Another round of European football will be a nice boost to the club's coffers.

The sad part is that we are unlikely to be back here next summer.
