How do you refer to Thor?

I'd say "felli fjörnets goða flugstalla" or "slayer of giants, basher of trolls" for those with limited Old Norse ;)

The sentiment behind the comments doesn't change though, would you have said the same about Muhammad of the Islamic faith?

    I doubt it.

Precisely, he only apologised when he noticed it was a suicide victim.

He / she doesn't seem to care about the religious aspect of it.

Going off topic here, some of these bonfires are ridiculously tall .. how the hell do they build them without a few fatalities from falls?

No I don't give a Toss for Religions, they are the very reason we have problems like this. But as for suicide, my wife's Brother Committed suicide so from that point of view I'm regretful.

They are quite impressive, well done to them. Pity about the hatred that goes along with it.

I'm not religious but regardless, the comments in this thread are ridiculous, like a bunch of children and then bringing in the suicide of other people and having a go at each other etc  mod needs to close this.

I'm an atheist but the comments on this thread are ridiculous. You're an atheist, don't believe in Catholicism big bloody whoop. The statue of Mary represents the culture of my ancestors and my close family. Stealing and burning it is disgraceful and incites hatred between communities.

But hey let the totally original Catholic bashing continue on this site.

So, just to clarify, now you're upset because it has connotations that affect you? Do you realise that makes you a massive hypocrite?

Do Protestants not also view the Virgin Mary as the mother of Christ?

Apparently anyway Orange leaders on the Shankhill Road removed the statue and returned it to the Holy cross monastery. I presume it was the actions of some stupid kids in the area.

Last week, I attempted to make naan bread in my regular oven. It should be made in a tandoor, but I don't have one. Well the thing burned. But you don't see me comparing it to a feckin statue of mary

their issue is with the immaculate conception.. but you'd be lucky to get it spelled correctly from those that put the statue on the bonfire.

'Its the way things were always done around here, just don't ask us what its about..'

The problems up north have very little to do with religion. Ignorance, heh?

    Quite depressing.

Everytime anyone starts talking about a united Ireland, I think "FFS - not in my lifetime."
