Yesterday, I heard someone on the radio urge the government to enact emergency legislation, "like they did for the bankers", to give the concerts the go ahead again. I haven't cringed so hard in quite a while.

Some of the posts afterwards drive me to distraction.

One person actually asked if we'd all get a new tshirt because the date of the Irish Runner 5 mile was wrong on the one we got. I'd say you'd have more chance of someone standing there with a bottle of Tipp-ex changing the 1 to an 8 than you would of them printing thousands more tshirts.

Haha, just looking at the Clontarf HM Facebook page 3 of the most recent posts on the timeline are links to albums containing over 2,000 photos of the race.

Most recent post to the page: Were there race pictures taken on the day?:confused:

The term "retarded" used in this context is highly offensive.

That bloody Mrs Browns Boys radio ad for tickets for it's show next year. It's only been on a couple of days, but I'm already sick of hearing it!

I do hope this is sarcasm/irony. In a forum I post on emoticons are roundly despised. Hahaha is perfectly fine by me.

And as for Lol. Dear God.

It's not even an evolution of language. It's just plain wrong. Like saying 'must of' instead of 'must have'. It's people mishearing the phrase and choosing the wrong word.

The prime minister of a country getting involved in organizing/ uncancelling a concert. I've seen it all now. Is this the most important need for the country right now. Jesus

50 mill for the economy and 70,000 tourists is nothing to be sniffed at though.

I don't understand logic like this in this situation. Have people learned nothing from the 90s and subsequent planning tribunals?

Don't see the comparison to be honest. Surely that was because of corrupt councillors/politicians taking bribes to make some shocking planning decisions. Granted this whole thing is a fiasco which was handled very badly by all sides but maybe best to let them get on with it and learn for the future.

Girth should never have been given an option (5 concerts) which wasn't realistic, or likely to be sanctioned. Hubris and arrogance on the part of Aiken Promotions. Brooks is a twat too. **** him and his "5 or nothing".

Back then politicians interfered with the city manager too, although he was a willing
participant, and said we'll learn from those mistakes. At what point do we actually implement what was learned instead of continually letting it slide with a ah sure it'll be grand this time, but don't let it happen again?

The f*ck it was. One side chanced their arm and sold tickets for which they did not have a license for. They, and they alone, are responsible for any subsequent fallout.

If there's one thing we should all take from this, it's that Jerry Kiernan is right, and it's all the ****ing GAA's fault. ;)
