I'm sure I'm being a bit of a drama lallana but I don't have much confidence the business we've done/doing so far.

I find it pretty damned exciting.

Granted, the last time we had 130m odd to spend it was a catastrophe but I trust Bren and the lads a lot more than Commolli. And the risk isn't what it was then either because we're building on top of quality, instead of muck.

Lallana, while maybe overpriced, feels like he'll be good at this level. It's as safe a signing as you're going to get and I feel that the extra cash is worth it for the relatively guaranteed quality. He mightn't hit the heights of some precocious tiny latin fella but he feels like he's going to be solid.

Markovich (assuming things go to plan and he signs in the next couple of days) looks a serious prospect. Pace, dribbling, work rate. Rodgers can work wonders with that mix, as we've already seen.

Can is a safe bet for the money we're paying. He already looks like he'll be more useful than Lucas and there looks like there's a lot of potential there.

Lambert is a classy footballer and again, it's a cheap short term option. Think of him as an upgrade on Aspas.

Origi is something to sit on the back burner until next season.

    So that's 70m quid's worth and that's with 3 more signings we're looking at - another 15-20m CB, a 10-15m LB and a 25m+ attacker.

If we pull through on those last 3 signigns (and they're actually worth the sort of money we've looked like spending on them) that's as exciting a transfer window as we've had in my lifetime.

I enjoyed watching Liverpool games so much last season because of the style of play. Marcovich I only know from clips but he's quick and if he can keep the energy up for 90mins he'll be perfect for the system. I really want to see the team steamroller games in the first 20mins again and he's that type of player.

Lallana I enjoyed when I saw him, didn't he have that great move and hit the post v us? No issues signing him.

Main thing missing now is the goals. I want Huntelaar more than anybody else, he'd bang them in.

Good vid on Lallana here, basically him on the ball for 10 mins.

Tim Pearson - Anyone know if he's reliable?

    Never heard of him.

This is the first link of any kind I have seen to this player. It's only the Metro.

Griezmann is being linked for £20m

On my phone so I can't link right now

My concern is that we are not supplementing these players with winners. None of them have done anything of note in the game. They might turn out to be great in a few years and that's fine but it's no good when we're looking to cement our place in the CL.

Markovic & Lallana will cost us the guts of 40M...I believe that could be better spent elsewhere. Maybe we've tried but been unsuccessful. These players will be coming to the club in awe of players around them, fawning over Gerrard etc I want players to join that our existing players in will be in awe of. Imagine Kroos or Muller or Hummels or a player of that ilk walking into the dressing room and the reaction of everyone.

Now I know it's early and we might buy big in the coming months, but it just seems deja vu to me.

Just need to be linked with Depay to check of last summer's wing forward wish list now \o/

25M is a snip given his talent. In 2-3 years time, he very well could go for double that.

edit - ugh, it's a John Cross piece.

Well he's certainly fond of the Cruyff turn.

More pace than I assumed as well. Not the sort to burn past superfast full backs but it's pace on the ball which is even better.

John__Percy #lfc are considering a bid for Swansea left-back Ben Davies after making an inquiry this week. #thfc also remain interested

If we keep bidding for full backs between now and August 31st I'm pretty sure we will get one in the end.

Ben Davies would be better than Bertrand, but still not a big upgrade on what we have at the club.

Nah he's not really that fast, the video is just sped up to make him appear faster. ;)

It's one of the most important positions in modern football, full back, I would have no complaints if the club spent big on a left back.

Many are championing Moreno, though I must admit I haven't seen much of him.

Davies is quite a competent left back but I don't think he has a high ceiling.

Kuyt showing exactly why some were happy hes gone - not being able to find a pass from 10 yards is a crime at that level

Your hatred for Dirk is bizarre.

Hardly bizarre given how frustrating it is to watch him give the ball away time after time, all his passes are 5 yards, anything outside of that goes amiss - for a top level player I would expect a bit more

Many a point liverpool earned because of his hard work. He may not have been the most technically gifted, but he worked hard making important tackles in defence and scoring important goals at the other end. He came to liverpool as a goal scoring striker and never complained about being pushed out onto the wing, he just got on with it.

I really don't understand how any liverpool fan can have any bad feeling towards the guy. I'm proud to have seen him in a liverpool shirt and wish him well in his career.

EDIT: If we had a few more players with his attitude last season we'd have won the league

I like dirk and want him to do well but his passing and ball controle when playing for liverpool used to infuriate me

lol - I dont think its a coincidence we start to do better after he left - he's a donkey, runs around a lot, if you need a donkey in your team then hes your man - thankfully BR sees it that way too

Great post..I love Kuyt for all the points you raised above..

The film Rudy could have been based on Kuyt..

And that's fair enough, and something I'd agree to myself, but given his past and present comments (here and in tonight's match thread) on Dirk, he seems to have a irrational hatred for him.

Kuyt is such a smart adaptable player.

Great great example to players everywhere, miss the guy myself.

also went to check on mascherano to see if he was ok as he was leaving the field for attention.

Shocking clearance from Kuyt there...didn't find a team mate.

We should buy Kuyt and Mascherano

Personally I think it's poor form for any Liverpool fan to speak about Dirk like that. Never the most stylish player needless to say but gave everything he had for the cause and was a big game player.
