Why don't the GAA just buy the houses that are really close to Croke Park and know them down?

    Because they're not for sale!?

The US Courts can have whatever view they want on our Law but they have no jurisdiction here.

International artists and their agents have a say in these sort of things, are you suggesting the organizers of this gig are some sort of side show bob outfit, that only have parish pump concerns.

while the GAA is undoubtly rich....I don't think it can afford a one mile square block of centreish of Dublin...

what will they do after knocking them down...leave it as wasteland???

I'm finding it impossible to sympathise with the predicament of anyone who jumped on the garth brooks bandwagon. If garth brooks coming to ireland is the highlight of their life they need to take a cold hard look at themselves.

You having a bogging clue what's going on here, have you?

Are you suggesting that the clowns in in the ivory towers in Dublin were not aware of this when the news broke several months ago.

which will draw thousands of extra cars into Dublin city centre every weekend/couple of times a week for concerts....causing traffic chaos:confused::confused:

They were aware and voiced their concerns at he pre-application meetings. However their concerns weren't taken on board.

And they can only make their judgement on what was submitted officially in the application which is exactly what they did.

Are you suggesting that the DCC should approach promoters who they think maybe planning an event and invite them to apply for a licence? Or is it not more logical for the event promoter to approach DCC and apply for a licence?

I honestly cannot believe how out of touch some people are with regards to Garth Brooks and how he would so obviously have no problem selling out arenas in the states and elsewhere in the world, many times over in fact. Comments suggesting that he is coming here as he would have struggled elsewhere, are as ludicrous as it gets.

Here is a screenshot of the crowd when he played Central Park in '97. Do people really believe that he was just a flavour of the month performer back then and that his fanbase have all somehow just died maybe, or just changed their musical tastes perhaps? Or, that somehow Irish people being interested in seeing him perform, to the degree that they clearly are, is just some weird odd geographically phenomena, which can only really be put down to culchies musical tastes not moving along and changing at the same rate as all other inhabitants of Planet Earth.

As stated already, announcements regarding his upcoming world tour are imminent and you can damn well guarantee that he will be selling out the likes of Fenway, Yankee Stadium, Wrigley Field, Medowlands etc etc and that the tickets will sell out just as fast as they did here, if not faster. I find it odd that people would think otherwise, other that is to pander to their nonsense and baseless notions that his only motive for choosing Ireland to launch his comeback concerts are financial ones.

Of course, if that were true, that would make the guy psychic, as he has been saying for well over a decade now how he felt that the Croke Park shows were his best and so he must have known way back when that one day Ireland would be the only place where he would sell 400,000 tickets so fast and so he better start bull****ting people back then, in perpetration. Good old Garth, Nostradamus has nothing on him.

Well they could do anything with the space. They could turn it into a nice green area with trees and stuff. That would help with noise pollution.

If your gonna use the central park show as the crux of your argument, you should mention it was free.

Do you really think the President of the US should be able to order Dublin City Manager about? Why? Why would he want to? Do you think Obama is worried about the two cancelled concerts?

Dublin is no fun. How do other parts of country get over week long festivals at all? E.g. Galway races. This year all Dubs are banned from Galway for the week of the Galway races. Go and spend your money in your own communities.
