They did, they got it from the owners of Croke Park aka the GAA

Well would it not be Croke Park in breach of contract then. However, Aiken have held various gigs thoughout the years there, they must know enough about licensing by now to secure the license before selling tickets for a gig.

I still find it hard to believe he was booked for 5 nights. Were they not shocked that the tickets sold so well in the first place. 3 nights was probably all they were planning for.

Time for the Taoiseach to step in and over rule DCC and allow the 5 nights.

He said earlier he hoped they could be save so I wouldn't be surprised if he stepped in, behind the scenes anyway. He unlike the clueless residents can see the huge cost this will be to the economy if the concerts don't go ahead.

Yeah, sure nothing wrong with having the leader of a country interfering with it's various establishments and how they're run.

I'm sure you'll have no issues with him declaring himself the winner of the next general election, be it true or not, either.

Garth is an Ass for doing any concerts.

Garth is an Ass for doing No concerts.

Lots of hostility here towards Garth regardless of what he does. And I'm sure all of you were big fans of his to begin with, so he'll be heartbroken that you feel this way about him suddenly.

Once again Ireland embarrasses itself on an international stage.

They know the opposite, that tickets are sold in advance and subject to licence.

It's been pointed out that the letter of the law might be different but that's common practice as has been as long as I've been going to gigs.

Hopefully DCC stand strong and call his bluff, can't wait for him to play those 3 concerts with his tail between his legs after that ridiculous comment.

I'm sure he'd love to given his parties reliance on the spud gobbler vote, Inda outside croke park doing his thumbs up shtick would be tonic for the blue shirts. Same as bertie trying to win the gob****e vote with his saipan intervention

DCC are'nt going to have that muppet make a public show of them though

Aiken website is still listing the gigs

He is the Taoiseach he could do it of he wanted, or at the very least tell DCC to reverse it or else.

Only people 'embarrassing' Ireland are the promoters and owners of the venue.

I'm a big fan of Garth, have tickets to 2 nights, will be upset if they don't go ahead.

That statement still made him seem like a wanker though.

Owen Keegan who made this decision is the same man who was in charge of construction of that humungus library building on the seafront in Dun Laoghaire. He is also the same man who wants to have one lane only for cars on the quays. He is a dammed disgrace. A one man national disaster

No, nobody was calling him an Ass for doing the concerts, in fact it was Aiken that is getting the blame for the whole 5 concerts in a row and not applying for the licence till the last minute.

Saying that you love the Irish etc and then doing no concerts but still picking up a lot of $$$ is a ass thing to do - if he wasn't getting the money he would most certainly be doing the concerts - so I'd say he'll be getting paid for 5 regardless. so his choice come here do 3, get paid for 5, or stay at home do none and get paid for 5.

    You're embarrassing yourself.

This thread is similar to the ridiculous convulsions of anger about the dread grip of the church contracting in our country.

Now its the turn of the GAA.

    Viva modern Ireland.

Brooks is the one throwing his toys out of the pram trying to influence things.

Are you also forgetting they've permitted 3 concerts?

    the GAA bullied nobody, ever

Would the 5 additional nights have been all that much hassle considering that employment and money generated?.

The problem is that it's the constant disruption of 5 nights in a row

I think it's silly to suggest the Taoiseach should step in over a cancelled concert. I would think the residents would have had a very good case for an injunction if the 5 nights had been granted considering they are on weeknights, consecutive nights, and there have already been three this year.

I don't know why people are so angry with DCC either. They were asked permission for 5 concerts in a row, some people wanted no concerts, they pretty much respected both sides by granting three. Seems very fair to me.

You want the Taoiseach to interfere with a democratic decision.
And people wonder why politicians get away with indiscretions.

I wouldnt call 27,000 getting their way vs 400,000 not getting theirs very democratic would you????
