I can help with this part - most other people don't really give a sh:t about them and their 'concerns'.

That's how it seems. All you need to do is look to the rage on fb to see that.

I hate Garth Brooks but my god this is a fine example of selfishness.

Crazy how they pulled it off. Would 2 more nights be so bad? This tool makes some people very happy.

This is the main reason why I support the residents case.

If you cannot accept democracy .......

Democracy would suggest a vote of the people where the 160,000 fans who just got f*cked over would win over the small group of residents with absolutely no foresight

Here's the big question, Will the reasons for 2 of the concerts being shelved give the residents ammo to go further? Maybe get all 5 cancelled?

Will the residents still want compo I wonder - it's still double the amount of concerts?

They will keep going..this could end up costing a lot more after this decision.

Please... its 100% the residents fault, if they shut their holes all 5 nights would go ahead.

    Agreed Comrade Nox.

To the Gulag with all of them.

Just shows you that dcc can be bought.. Aiken should be made to compensate the hoteliers etc as this is all their fault.

compensate hoteliers? WTF? Its the middle of the summer, they will be packed anyways. They just wont be able to fleece those people on those two nights.

Lets compensate hoteliers for the money they are fleecing ordinary concertgoers for. Yes, lets do that.

I suspect the €500,000 they were offered will be firmly off the table now. They pushed it too far and will end up with nothing but the rest of the country pissed with them.

Everyone should turn up anyway on the night they were due to attend and cause f*king havoc in the area!!! Make the residents regret every word they uttered against the concerts.

    'Murica.

People are bringing it up though and the "what about the people that booked hotels argument" and using this to attack the residents..its not their fault that aiken dropped the ball.

Residents must be awful saps, seriously.

Don't like Garth Brooks at all but that's ridiculous, you live beside a stadium.

Hope someone takes a ****e on every driveway in the area now.

I'm not a Garth Brooks fan but the loss of revenue across a broad range of industries from this will be immense. Public transport fares, taxi fares, pub trade, hotels, reinvestment into clubs from GAA profits etc etc... Not to mention Ireland's reputation. What a joke!

cue the millions in lost revenue for hotels, taxi drivers, irish rail, restaurants etc

I don't think you understand economics. That money isn't going to combust and disappear, they'll spend that money in their localities, just because its not being spent in Dublin doesn't mean it's not benefiting our economy

    LETS ALL CALM DOWN!!!!!!!!!!

Dublin City Council tells me no decision on Garth Brooks has been made. Not that it's not being released- it has not been made.

Greed in it's purest form was Aiken's downfall here.

How is it not the residents fault the only reason 5 nights are not going ahead is because some residents are so far up their own hole they wont but up with a small bit of disruption and instead ruin the plans of 100's of thousands of people.

Karma is going to bite them residents and bite them hard......

this was to be a legacy fund to go into local projects in the area. Do you honestly think that this was going to be divvied up between residents?

maybe they will transfer concerts to Cork, Thurles or Kilkenny?

Do you know how many people are travelling from up north and the UK to attend? If I recall correctly it was around a quarter to a third of the tickets sold!

80,000 of those tickets probably have tickets to one of the other 3 nights!

delighted for the residents. if they had accepted it this time they were likely to continue being walked over forever more.
