Most of the residents of the area have not been living there 70 years. Probably 99%+

And the chairman of one of residents committees, eamon o brien is from tipperary, and lives in castleknock and no connection with the area. Biggest hypocrite of them all.

But there haven't been gigs there the last 70+ year's either. I'd say there's been a large percentage since before it had gigs.

Please explain how he's a hypocrite for doing his job?

Simple fact DCC are left with a terrible mess here.
Croke Park themselves have said that 5 nights was wrong and too excessive and they handled it badly... So what can DCC. Do now when even the organisers say it's too many nights in one go?

Oh this is getting good... Down to the bones of it now and quite possibly a court case that could shake outdoor events in the future.

Organisers delay as long as possible submitting their licence applications to prevent people (residents etc) from having time to mount a proper case... This could shake the sh1t out if it...

    See some CRAIC then...!!!

Sure even If Gareth turns out in the area, we'll all turn out for the singsong.

Has Gareth got the stamina for it?

80000 people for a good sing song. Mighty craic altogether.

Is it a concert if the act doesn't show up?....We can for a sing song of Garth Songs.

Steam roller that's a wonderful idea! The disappointed punters can all come to a field near you and you can lead a singsong! You and your mother can make tea! Then you can clean up after them when they're gone!

I'll only go if we can freely piss in steam rollers garden. Otherwise no dice.

That's not the case. The time frame stipulated by the DCC application process was adhered to by all interested parties.
The exception of the "Mediation" meeting that rolled in too late to make any meaningful difference.

Is there a minimum time before the concerts when a licence decision has to be given? Only three weeks away now.

No it's 10 weeks to submit an application for a licence Before the concert is die to take place. no time line on when the licence to be granted or not but usually only takes 4 5 weeks age that so they definitely taking their time

I'm not sure Donkeyoaty. The application has to be in 10 weeks before the event and observations have to be in over the next couple of weeks. The Council then deliberate and make up their minds. I imaging that any unecessary delay is to be avoided as costs will be mounting up on the promoters side.
If court cases about promotion before the license granting go ahead I imaging a clarification of the planning process will be one of the positive outcomes of this whole debacle.

fears only three of the five Croke Park gigs will be granted a licence

    http://www.independent.ie/entertainment/music/music-news/doubts-over-two-garth-brooks-gigs-in-croke-park-30403519.html
Dublin City Council's CEO Owen Keegan spent yesterday holding high-level talks with staff in the planning office.

But sources told the Irish Independent that DCC chiefs are considering the possibility of granting a licence for just three concerts in Croke Park.

There was speculation that two of the concerts could be moved to another location, such as the Aviva or the RDS.

However, sources said last night that such a move would be logistically impossible.

Sources in the GAA said it would "not be feasible" to move the concert stage from one side of the city to another as the concerts are being held five nights in a row.
    Build another one

I really think we are going to see this in court. Residents look gung ho in trying to get them stopped. I'm sure Aiken are looking at an injunctions to the residents.

DCC have a lot to answer for leaving it so late.

Ah don't let Owen Keegan get involved. He'll insist that unless everyone travels to the gig by bicycle, he won't allow them to go ahead.

Too late to apply for a license to hold it elsewhere.

#BREAKING: Permission granted for only THREE Garth Brook concerts at Croke Park. More to follow

    Edit:

It’s understood the decision to grant permission for just three concerts was made this morning.

It is not clear at this stage what will happen to the remaining two concerts and on what dates the concerts will be affected.

    astonishing.

As a resident within the cordon I am flabbergasted that only 3 gigs are to happen.

    Wow, that is remarkable.

    All mod leave cancelled :D

    This is a mess

Surely holding 3 concerts would be the best possible result.

Croke Park Nimbys still get discommoded and thousands of Garth Brooks musical illiterates miss out on seeing their hero.

    Win-Win.

Aiken will probably have to bite the bullet and try to hold 2 more concerts somewhere else at the end of the summer.
Huge own goal for them and one which could cost them a fortune

Chewy Louie is correct. The vast, vast majority of people who own the properties around Croke Park don't actually live in them. The area has a very fluid population with only a small proportion (one of the smallest in Dublin) of long term residents.

This is interesting. On clonliffe road, where I live, there is two rental properties in the 10 properties that are around us. lots of families who have been there a long time, some blows in like me, 6 years.
