Red card for Valencia. That was a bit harsh... there was no malice in the tackle, just recklessness.

he went for sterlings throat when sterling went for the ball, Valencia went into the legs. should have been a red, he could have broke the guys legs.

Uruguay won't be able to play Four Four Chew if Suarez is banned.

For a Maradona worshiper I have to concede that Messi could be starting to stamp himself on a major tournament although there's been at least 3 standout players so far.

I chose the wrong game :(
Even after the sending off it's a snore fest. Ecuador have given up and France are half heartedly attacking

I dunno if he 'went for' the legs tbh. He went for the ball as far as I could tell.. and was committed to the challenge, but yeah I guess he did deserve the red for going in with two feet.

I don't think there was very much intent in it though.

Was a red, unfortunately as he's not a dirty player. You go in with both feet, you need to time it properly. That said, when you see what Balotelli only got a yellow for the other night....

He did time it properly. He got the ball and he foot slipped off the ball onto the French dude's leg. Yellow card at most.

"Got the ball" is nowhere in the rulebook, and is a simplification used by halfwit pundits.

Getting man and no ball is a foul, almost by default. The reverse of that is not at all true and never has been.

not a dirty player with two red cards in two months? seriously? and its not the first competition he's seen red cards,

if he did it properly he would have got the ball and not dug his studs into the guys leg, a broken leg is one of the worst injuries for a soccer player it's why what valencia did is a red card offense!

My Half-French son was born last Friday. Does this mean I have to finally give France and start supporting them again for the sake of family unity?

WWII rematch tonight. I fancy a draw between the two.

I predict Aleksandr Kerzhakov to score the winner but most of the credit to go to Clint Dempsey. :p

Ghana/Portugal I think could be a real cracker though, should be far more lively. So naturally neither BBC or RTE are showing it on their main channels.

Interesting. Germany should take a big lead in the first half, but US goals will start raining in from all directions in the second half. Finally the ref abandons the game with 10 mins to go with half the German team missing.

Belgium should dispose of SKR handily enough to set up a game in the second round between themselves.

Algeria have a great chance to set up a revenge match with Germany. Now, most of the German players from 1982 are no longer playing and likewise Algeria, but it'll still be promoted as a revenge match.

Meanwhile, the ultimatum FIFA issued to Uruguay has expired and FIFA will start shelling Montevideo soon. The tiny (only twice the size of Ireland) South American country is harbouring the infamous war criminal, Luis "Teeth" Suarez, and refuse to hand him over.

Breaking news: Ghana have responded to FIFA's demands to make Cristiano Ronaldo's game with Ghana easier by sending home two of their best players, Boateng and Muntari.

Anyone here know who to get the RTE player to stream abroad?

I have a VPN/proxy IP changer thingy and I can change my location to Ireland, but the stream still won't work.
What's strange though is that when I change my location to the UK, I can watch the BBC/ITV no problemo.

You can watch all the live streams and replays using your VPN at CBC's website. What you need is to change to a Canadian IP address.

Yeah considering it's his third offence I thought it would have been steeper. However I suppose you could factor in that he'll have to live with the fact that he's let his country down on the biggest stage in football.

Seeing as the Russians can't deploy behind the Germans, that's not a bad guess.

Looks like Ghana's two star players have been sent home from the World Cup. So i'd say Ghana is playing at a huge disadvantage tonight.

The Portugal - Ghana match is on BBC Red Button HD. Does anyone know how to go about adding that channel to a Freesat box?

Edit: Nevermind.. I got it done. That was easier than I expected

Depending on when you last scanned channels, it should be there under the name '6390' or '6391'.
Try that and let me know.

My STB is a load of bollix. You have to manually add satellites and transponders before you can search / scan them!

Portugal started Eder again, so that probably levels it out in fairness.
