Why would Liverpool agree to this contract? The only place he'd realistically be going after last summer's saga is to one of Spain's big two so why would they put in a £52m buyout clause for just two clubs who we know would be very interesting in taking him. Makes no sense imo, especially when it's only £12m more than what Arsenal were offering.

Why would they bid for him today, as opposed to last week, or next week? He scores two goals against the country of his club and Barcelona are supposed to have decided to bid for him the next day, seems way too contrived to be true.
It's the same old horse sh!t.

Maybe someone will come in for Suarez, but I guarantee nothing will happen while the World Cup is on. Let alone this ridiculous swap deal.

Until we hear something from Suarez expressing a desire to leave, I won't be paying any attention to these made-up lies.

@barcastuff: Barcelona have been in touch with Luis Suarez' agent. Liverpool agreed he can leave for 70M to Barcelona/Madrid, 90M other teams [tv3 sport]

From what I've seen on twitter I believe this to be true, but the figures are in £...

Not worried about Suarez leaving one bit to be honest...

Sakho has had a pretty impressive 2 games for France. Albeit against Honduras and Switzerland.

Not sure about Shaqiri on the evidence of the 2 games so far. Granted a very small sample size. Actually think I might prefer Lallana were we to get him for a reasonable fee.

Lallana has looked like a headless chicken. Way out of his depth.

What has he played? About 25 minutes over 2 games right at the end?

Could not give a toss about that. He would be good under Rodgers.

Add that to the fact he has spent most of his years in the lower leagues. The prices being touted for him are nuts.

£100m, not a penny less. Possibly quite a bit more. That would be my line.

You still need to make the joke good though, otherwise its like doing a mauldy fart in a room and telling people to find it funny.

    Just sayin' !

Luis Suarez - "It wasn't revenge, but the England coach had words that annoyed me".”

Why can't Hodgson manage every PL team.

Then dropping back into the room 10mins later to see what the reaction is, and commenting on how you thought/expected to find things. :)

    bizarre.

Luis is a very emotional chap and seems to takes words to heart, thankfully it's only manifested in a positive way over the past 12 months. There's a hunger in Luis that tells me that he really wants to be regarded as THE best. He could have a very special 14/15.

It could be a game show over 20 series (alas he is a bit old).

Each side get Hodgson for one season with the previous season points tally as the reference point, the points difference for his season in charge is logged and after 20 years we find out which team he most improved or made worse relative to the regular manager (who would return as a hero most at the end of most seasons I suspect).

why would pool offer him 70 to barca/real and 90 to anyone else though surely they would be in a better position selling him to those two for huge fees?

    PSG offer 90
Liverpool sell to Barca for 70

    Seems legit

I assume it'd be a case of warning off the likes of City and Arsenal from coming in. It could also be a case of the club privately agreeing with Luis not to price him out of a dream move to Spain.

Do folk not get the concept of contract negotiations?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,315 ✭✭✭Soft Falling Rain

The way I see it we were lucky to keep him and that he gave so much to us last season, given the questionable manner in how we forced him to stay. It would make sense that when he was negotiating his new contract that he insisted on certain assurances when it came to bids from certain teams.

In that scenario I'm guessing the club would have the say.

A lower buy-out would be negotiated by the player.

LFC value the player at £90mil

Player states his preferred club (if they came knocking) and negotiates a lower fee for same said clubs before renewing.

Club agree that if there is no higher bid than that of £70mil by 'preferred' club then player can move.

    It's not ****ing rocket science.

The very reliable @DiMarzio confirms our interest in Sanchez and suggests possibility of Suarez being part of a deal.

    *warning Google translate

"North by Northwest, including world stars. Alexis Sanchez and Luis Suarez, fates that could interbreed. The Reds are extremely interested in the Barcelona striker, more of an idea. And strong trap for Juventus. The Barcelona hesitates, and is considering the possibility of entering the race for Luis Suarez, infallible gunman on which there is already strong pressure with Real Madrid. Alexis could be a great counterpart, because Suerez is tempting, even to Barcelona by Luis Enrique. Between World and the market, waiting for the first big summer hits."

If the club were giving Suarez a get-out clause to certain clubs why the hell would they give him a substantial wage increase and increase the length of his contract?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

I think we will only get Sanchez if Suarez leaves which is a huge shame. A forward line of Suarez,Sanchez & Sturridge would be a incredible attack.

An expected one, but you still went ahead. You just did it to see what kind of reaction you'd get. Glad we disappointed you.

    Jesus....

I mean I'm sure he'd be great player, with parents like that, but who is gonna be the giver/taker?

Zaf Iqbal has his work cut out for him on this one.

I suppose it would at least still be the S&S&S!

In truth it sounds to me that Sanchez could be got regardless of Suarez leaving or not. The the mood music suggests Barca are going to ring some big changes this summer and that at least one of Pedro/Sanchez will be sold.
