Has anyone else got annoyed by SwiftKey predictions since the update ?

Damn it I tried to type a word lately and it came up as Bieber! I've never typed that word ever!

Or to use flow to type that last sentence...

Can it I tried to toe a weird lately and it came up as Bieber. I've never toured that weird ever.

It automatically updates itself with trending phrases, and that tool must be trending!

Go into settings / SwiftKey Cloud and untick the trending option.

That happens with each SwiftKey update. You need to set the SwiftKey keyboard again after each update.

Thanks Fresh Pots but I did set it to the swiftkey keyboard post the update? It appears like there's a bug or glitch in the update I received, or is it a phone issue? Anyhow Swype is doing grand for the moment.

I've had some problems since the update as well. Minor problems with input (though the Swiftkey Keyboard stayed as default) but the biggest issue I had was battery life. It ate my batter yesterday. Have the M8 which normally lasts me 1.5 days, yesterday morning coming off full charge at 7am was down to 49% at 13:00. madness.

I'm getting pretty irritated by Swiftkey, I've had more incorrect auto completes than I've had with googles keyboard and it's more timing consuming and awkward to correct. I'll give it another while but I think I'll be going back to google. Having said that, when it does work the predictions are better.

I noticed it's using more battery and ram than it used to.

What's the best alternative to SwiftKey?

Googles one is pretty much the same.

Does Googles one have long press shortcuts on all the keys yet? I remember the AOSP one did but Google Keyboard on the play store only had them on the number row the last time I used it

Taking the thread slightly off topic.

Is anyone having an issue with Swiftkey when typing? When I press the space bar, its as if i've touched the home button. Very annoying.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the issue has reappeared.

I don't know if its my phone (Stock Nexus 4) or the app. It doesn't happen with the google keyboard.

Apologies. This is off issue Uriel. Would you recommend the m8. I am due an upgrade I have an 4s and want to change so it's either a s5 or an m8 what is your opinion on the m8. Again apologies

I'd very highly recommend it. I did come from the GNex so it was a big step up. But I have the M8 a month now and battery life is really great, and the whole device is just buttery smooth. To date I haven't experienced any problems with it. It's a great looking and feeling device too.

A lot of people criticize the camera. I only really take photos the odd time at parties or if I see something interesting out and about. Quality is perfectly good - I am sure there are better, but I'd wager unless you were a camera enthusiast, you'd never see a problem.

The Sense UI is quite good too, I haven't felt the need to go s-off. I do use Nova as my go to launcher anyway. If you have any specific questions to ask, please fire away.

Many thanks Uriel. I think I'll take your advice and go with the m8

EA games sale --- some games only 50 cent!

Or 50% off in app purchases for selected games.

I picked up Dead Space for 50 cent.

I have only played it for a short while but looks fun.

I had a look at the standard cyanogenmod keyboard and the Google keyboard as alternatives, but their next word prediction is nowhere near as good as SwiftKey.

Saw that, but the next-word function is a big plus in SwiftKey imo

IF it works ok, have you tried google keyboard for a while to see if it learns from what you type/facebook etc

    Ending Aaron Steed

There's something very zen about Ending, you can dip into it and just tackle a puzzle and jump out again. No ads, no invasive permissions, just a good, head scratcher, of a game. There's a hint of a rogue-like, with a good pinch of an old school game like Boulder Dash, re-invented through minimalist Nethack visuals that suit the mood and gameplay.

    Some gameplay footage below.

Well I dumped Swiftkey over the weekend, just too annoying to correct words if it put the wrong ones in, and the swype function isn't as smooth as googles.

zLauncher by Nokia. It's in quasi closed beta at the moment, unless you can get the APK from a mate.

It's totally minimalist but a breath of fresh air. Just shows six vertical icons on the home screen and the basic phone icons horizontal along the bottom [phone, chrome, app drawar, SMS, whatsapp for me].

The vertical list of six updates itself over time to be your top 6 apps / contacts used. You can then filter for other apps / contacts by drawing letters on screen.

Oh, and it looks much on a tablet. Seems to only be optimised for small screens at the moment.

Definitely one to watch when it's released.
