Joe Cole will add absolutely nothing to Aston Villa, and Villa are terrible. His agent is playing a blinder to be fair to him.

I know we took a punt on him thinking at 29/30 he might add something, but surely no-one else could possibly make that mistake after his spell at WHU. I cant believe his agent is still getting him decent deals. ****ing chancer......i wish him well.

Not that long ago it was our club that was in trouble and we were buying Joe Cole

Cole to Villa & West Brom to announce Timmy Sherwood soon...that's 2/3 relegated...

Honestly, the difference between JC when we bought and now was we didn't know he was going to be a complete waste of space and might offer something. Villa have got to know at this point that the guy hasn't got it anymore.

More of a "fair play to ya" type of award for being all round good guys in the league last year.

Is there a place to get odds on Flanno scoring at the World Cup?

Ah, the days of faux sympathy and "concern" over Liverpool possibly facing oblivion, dark days indeed.

You'll get great odds on it id imagine considering he isisnt going, hes only on the back up list. Him and stones went home after the honduras game.

Great odds then ;) still a chance if an England player falls over in training tomorrow.

Judging by the pics of him in Miami last night, I'd say its odds on!

One of the SSN presenters was looking particularly well in the same nightclub aswell!

Lol, its the mirror and all i know but they are running with hodgey possibly playing sterling off stirridge with rooney out left.

    That would rustle some jimmies

Amazing how gutless Hodgson is that he can't fathom not starting Rooney who clearly is out of form

I can't think of many managers who would, tbh.

Fuck though it's very hard to drop him. Having Sturridge be the frontman in his place is enough, i think, taking some of the goalscoring pressure off of Rooney.

    My ideal team would be;

    Hart
    Johnson--Cahill--Jags--Baines
    Gerrard
    Hendo--Lallana
    ---Rooney
    Sterling
    Sturridge

That wouldn't rely on Rooney as much as they have in the past, but with Sturridge's occasional tendency to pull wide for the ball, allows Rooney to make late runs inside. Also plenty of scope for swapping of positions with Sterling, and even Lallana.

Yeah you absolutely have to start Rooney.

He's definitely overrated by English pundits who seem to place him just behind Ronaldo and Messi and pose the question about whether he could have a World up to join that type of elite player, but at the same time he's still a quality player, probably England's best, who will put a good shift in and not let you down wherever he plays.

I can see the logic in playing out wide. Though a fluid system of interchanging between Rooney, Sterling and Sturridge would make sense to me.

Or personally I would try to copy Liverpool's diamond and play Sterling in behind Sturridge and Rooney.

Then again I don't know if the word 'fluid' is in Hodgson's vocabulary

A Spanish paper not Macca ran today that Ronaldo doesn't want Luis Suarez at Real Madrid.

Oh I so hope that is true.

Have you watched Rooney in the last 10 games for England? The only time he busts a gut is when the half time and full time whistles go.

He is completely different from the player who turns out for United every week. IMO he doesn't want to play for England anymore but knows the stick he'll get if he retires.

In the game against Honduras, England looked so much better when Rooney and Gerrard went off at half time.

Even with his poorer performances, he was still by miles England's top scorer in the qualifiers - for that alone he deserves his place.

    He scored 7.

    Wellbeck scored 4.

    3 goals is hardly miles.

Rooney had 7 in 6 games.

    Welbeck had 4 in 9

43% more goals, in 3 fewer appearances.

    He deserves to start.

Yet in major tournaments Rooney has scored once since 2004.
