According to twitter, Moreno deal has stalled as Sevilla want all the money up front.

That rarely happens these days. We need to force the issue - is anyone else really willing to match what we are offering? There are only so many clubs in the market for LBs...

Now would be the time to see about Ashley Cole, and let it be known too. If Moreno fell through he would be a good addition. Wages might be a negative factor but maybe a pay per play deal could be worked out?

Realistically I don't think that's an option. Cole could get a proper deal somewhere else so has no incentive to go for something like that

Also, how often do PAYP deals actually happen these days?

I do think he'd be a low-risk move, he's proven quality and has 2/3 year of top level left in him. But I suspect the club would prefer a long-term move for a younger player, and let the experienced Enrique provide the back-up...

Well we don't know what offers me may get. He'll want to still play at a CL level I am sure, so that might draw him to us. He's sure as sheet not going back to Arsenal, and I don't think City would bother with him.
Is he the type to try Spain or France at this stage?

I think Moreno deal will happen, Sevilla are just chancing their arm with their demands, hoping to set up an auction - no doubt hoping Spurs are interested for real!

Think I shall be having some money on Villa to get relegated this season. They've just supplemented their squad with Joe Cole and Senderos.

Joe Cole and Roy Keane( If he takes the Villa job) that's reality tv I'd pay to see.

If Rakitic is gone, do Sevilla really need to sell.
If Liverpool go elsewhere for a LB, that doesn't necessarily mean that Seville will have to take a cut price on Moreno, if they're stuck with Moreno next season its hardly a disaster for them

Flies in the face of what Villa have been about under Lambert with older high wage earners going out the door and replaced by young potential/talent on smaller pay packets

I'd probably still just stream it.

They didn't get that much for Rakitic, so although they say they are under no pressure to sell, for a position like LB, they could replace him with a youngster from a La Liga team and pocket £10M easy...

Being at the world cup isn't the be all end all of football. Just to put in perspective Torres is going with Spain!!

Moreno didn't make the final squad but he was on standby if injury arose. He made the final 30 and he'll get his shot at the WC.

I haven't really watched enough of him but he was very close to making the Spain squad as a 21 year old. Would tend to indicate that he has a lot of potential.

No quotes, so it's probably plucked out of the air but Metro claim that Ronaldo doesn't want Suarez and Madrid....which is nice. http://metro.co.uk/2014/06/10/cristiano-ronaldos-dislike-of-luis-suarez-to-real-madrid-rumours-is-music-to-liverpools-ears-4756672/

Unless suso is guaranteed game time i would say he will be off and i cant see him getting ahead of any of our current attackers, thats before we add some this summer so id say he will be sold. Hopefully we insert one of those buy back clauses but id imagine porto wont be dealing with us if we did.

Poor 'Ronnie' such a diva that he doesn't want to share the 'not able to do it against the big teams' spotlight with Luis.

Moreno is behind Alba (first choice Barca LB) and Azpilcueta (first choice Chelsea LB who took Cole's place). Given his age and lack of CL experience, it's certainly not disgrace for him to be left out of the Spanish squad.

So comparing it to Paul McShane being left out of an Ireland squad would be an unfair comparison?

He won't have to worry about it!

If Suarez is going to Madrid, himself and bale are coming here!

Don't forget Villa is up for sale and they are just doing exactly what we did in the time of uncertainty.

Buying hasbeens that can get a high wage at a club knowing they are desperate to maintain a PL position, and see them through a season of uncertainty with a club sale etc.

In a way the Joe Coles of this world need to be admired for the tact even though it's not pretty it's bringing them riches.

I'm assuming the plan is/was to be a better business model in a move away from the Martin O' Neill era of Spend big on a player, pay him big wages and then be left with little choice but to take a financial hit to get him off the books.

Its not like they were winning anything the old way. Possibly part of Ellis' plans to make the club more attractive to potential buyers

Bored in work, so looked at the first few pages of the Liverpool v Villa match thread in Aug at the start of last season. Lots of optimism and praise for Villa, lots of doubt around Liverpool. Regardless of Liverpool's progress, not many would have foreseen Villa's collapse. Sad to see them as a dumping ground for the likes of Joe Cole and without stability. Solid club, hope to see them turn it around.
