love how blue shorts is abusing the gardai, obstructing and interfering with an arrest - yet asking his friends to record

record what - you verbally abusing people? obstructing a member of AGS? interfering with an arrest?

    smart

I'm in tears! Try dealing with groups like this 4 or 5 times a shift on a Saturday night, I've met just as many decent people from disadvantaged areas as affluent areas and there is loads of help and opportunities for those who choose to take the right choices, the sence of entitlement is sickening with some of these groups, it's fueled by doo gooders. If you get up of your ass you can make things happen for yourself, we all get knocked back but you have to get up and go again!

What groups?? I'm talking about people from foster homes and worse. They defiantly don't have a sense of entitlement.

I know lots of kids that were in foster homes who have done fantastic in life and have taken the opportunities they were given, just cause your in a foster home dosent mean your a right off, get real!

    Stupid comment is stupid

No, Smidge, it is probably accurate.

What's stupid is presuming that they were there for the good of the local communities.

There are some who are so naive that they think these types have some sort of scruples, or that they want to improve themselves. They don't; they see society as a source of entertainment and when they grow into men they will steal and rape because they weren't beaten into submission because the powers that be are so blindly innocent to the fact that these kids are well tutored by their parents and peers on how to best take advantage of the system. But that's what blind innocent compassion is, a damaging act by misguided samaritans.

I never said they did, but several people in this thread suggested that they should have, or more generally that people who are disrespectful to the Gardai deserve a hiding to teach them some manners.

I am simply asking those people if they would apply the same principle to disrespectful Gardai. If not, they are espousing the pervasive Irish double standard which places the establishment on a pedestal and is the root cause of our problems with the church, bankers, politicians, Gardai, and so on and so forth.

My mistake. I misinterpreted you. And you're quite right. I'm in full agreement with you.

Of course it doesn't But some kids do need an extra helping hand.

No you know it was a stupid comment to make as
    1. You have no idea if he stole anything
    2. The guard said he was taking him under duty of care, not arresting him for theft
    3. You've just said "probably" again.

Actually, given the sentence in bold, you are either taking the complete mick out of this thread or else, I think we may have more cause to be worried about someone who would say that than kids on a fence

Jaysus Hoot you're on every garda thread getting your digs in. Did you get a thump a few years ago of a garda by any chance?

How do you suggest we sort them out??
I try by giving even the most hardened cases a chance at a job because I feel that that's whats going to give them a head start.
It also keeps them off the streets so it stops them acting like this in the video.

Fair play to you. But I think we need a carrot and a stick. Both of which need a lot of work. The carrot is what you are involved in. Thats fine but I want a big stick for those that do not engage with civic positivity

If that means tougher police measures, stricter prison systems and rigorous financial penalties. Cool by me

No just dont like there bullying are you a Guard?

How are the guards bullying someone. All the youngsters had to do was walk away. If they were older they wouldn't get as many chances.

Yeah I know. But you can't be that abusive either. Why would you start roaring at a guard who was only trying to help an injured young fella.

I think the youngsters were making a meal of it. They give abuse, then can't be calm. The guards have to try and keep the peace. Telling the young fellas to go away didn't work so they had to do something. I'm sure the fella getting cuffed on the floor hurt but if he wasn't rolling around he'd have been fine. He was doing enough twisting.

    That's how I see it.

Cannot fcuking stand these little sc*umbags. Got exactly what they deserved. Hope they get a bashing as well. These are the kids that end up in prison. Dirty pricks.

Fair play to the gardai, have to disagree with the comments that the kids deserved a kicking, and the ones that think the gardai should have left them. I think it's a big problem letting kids know that they can get away with anything especially right in front of a gardai.

 Of course they do. Gardai are human, why would they inflame a situation where they thought they'd get the shít kicked out of them? I'd assume they'd wait till they had backup and enough help to deal with any given situation.

Gardai acted professionally. They might have diffused the situation by telling the injured kids (mouthy) mates that he wasn't being arrested, and was just being brought to the station/hospital or back to his parents home.

Still no excuse for them acting so disrespectfull/aggressively towards the Guards though.

who are these "do gooders" answer, they don't exist, just another mythical bunch to blame for the fact that certain standards have to be adhered to meaning violence from authority and other nonsense isn't accepted anymore

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

you get real, just because some can do well who have had it bad doesn't mean others will

Looked to me that the Garda at the start was explaining this, but hard to hear because one of the lads was busy screaming abuse at them.

Yes, arrest the idiot kids for being idiots. I have no sound on my pc so i couldnt hear what was being said but im pretty sure the Gardai should be better prepared to deal with abuse from people especially kids who have learned from society, their peers and probably their parents that they should disrespect the law.

So yeah, lets give them criminal records for succumbing to the pressures of societal acceptance and generally just not knowing any better, I mean, if theyre stupid enough to mouth off at the Gardai they should be locked up, how dare the exercise their right to freedom of speech.

Could've just called an ambo and made the kid wait either. Not criticising what the Guards did though.

Yeah but mountjoy square is less than a 5 minute drive from temple st/the mater. It'd probably be quicker to drop him off than tie up an ambulance/leave 2 guards waiting around.

Would you say the same if those kids in 5 years time kicked your head in because you didnt have a smoke to give them just because they were under pressure to adhere to peer pressure??

Exactly. Lock the little ****ers up and keep locking them up. And maybe lock their criminal parents up while we're at it.

It's amazing the fact that those calling the kids scumbags ect are the ones posting the most hate filled, violent and expletive posts. I'd feel safer around the kids than those calling for the kids to get a hiding. Some of you seem very angry people.

Dublin is infested with scrotes like this who operate with impunity, shouting abuse, stealing phones out of peoples hands, throwing things at you, spitting at you as you walk past. They openly shoplift, try and steal bikes, check every car window for valuables, put their hands into post-boxes to steal letters and most annoying of all, play their stupid music on the bus.

They should send in Lugs Brannigan swinging with a baton like Judge Dredd.
