Was watching Dallas buyers club there and couldn't believe the size of matt mc connahy. The guy is usually well bulked up but in the movie he obviously had to change his lifestyle to shrink for the role.

Which brings me to my question. Any theories on the alterations he would have made in terms of diet and weights routine. He still had a 6 pack, so he keeps the body fat low. I'm baffled at how he is still well defined in the movie. Is he doing the same routine but eating less or lifting less but with increased frequency?

He had a six pack because he started with abdominal muscles and shed body fat.

He would have lost muscle when he shed the 3 stone or whatever it was.

There was little or no lifting involved.

Surely the muscles would loose definition from lack of use?

He was getting paid millions. He had all meals prepared, he had a team a team of PTs. getting that figure was his 9 to 5 for several months.

Some, perhaps, but you lose that much body fat, you'll have definition.

Muscles themselves don't have "definition", they are either visible or not depending on the fat over them. Even a hugely overweight person has the same 600 or so muscles under the fat.

In McConnahy's case, his body fat went from low to lower, keeping his now smaller, muscles visible.

I read an interview with him when the film was in the cinema where he said he ate 2 eggs, small bit of chicken and a tapioca pudding for the day that was all and stopped exercising.

He also said that he made a lot of less than serious claims because of the fixation on his diet.

I'm sure when he was on Graham Norton he said he had chocolate pudding for breakfast then all other meals were white fish and veg.

I'm not entirely sure what his diet was but I'd be pretty sure it's neither sustainable or advisable in the long term.

Unless the look and life span of an AIDS sufferer are what you're looking for.
