When in doubt blame the neighbours, Wonder if that would have gotten a mention if it was Spanish or Italian nuns ?

I don't know what to make of it anymore.
Every country has its horrendous history but mostly they've accepted them, dealt with their past and moved on.

We have to firstly stop calling these things 'scandals'. The correct terminology is 'atrocities' or 'gross abuses of human rights'.
I'm certainly not scandalised by them, I am horrified, upset, angered and saddened by them.

I don't know about anyone else but I want answers and explanations and I will be holding both FG and Labour fully to account over this when I vote. Obviously not over the events that happened there but I'll be looking at how they handle it today.

If there's sweeping under the carpet exercise done by the government, I'll be ensuring I'll be reflecting that in my voting patterns!

Quandary seemed quite put out that RTE had, in his opinion, got it wrong.

(To answer your question, the RCC is a bunch of different organisations and orders, but, yes, the RCC is the RCC...kinda)

You are are arguing semantics at this stage. The article is heavily biased and does everything possible to distance the atrocity from the Church.

This is the Belfast Telegraphs article about the same Tuam atrocity

Unlike the RTE, they manage to use the word Catholic, Nun, Church a huge amount.

    http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/local-national/republic-of-ireland/mass-grave-of-796-babies-found-in-septic-tank-at-former-catholic-church-orphanage-in-tuam-galway-30327483.html

How many atrocities and scandals do the Roman Catholic Church have to be complicit in before some zealots in this country will condemn them?

If find your ardent defending of RCC abhorrent.

It is time for Enda et al. to step up to the plate her. In reality we, joe public, can do all the hooting we want but it'll take the full force of the government to have any hope of influencing the church, if they even can.

In this case I am simple correcting you very, very clear factual error. That is all.

As horrified as I am, I can't say I'm all that surprised. Yet another case of the Catholic Church, aided and abetted by the state, grossly abusing the citizens of Ireland.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

I'm not gonna be able to look at any of the old people I know who grow up here and not think, "Did you know? Why didn't you do or say something?".

    Fair enough.

How about you address the rest of my post comparing the two articles?

....because they would have been slapped down, ignored and punished for opening their gob, more than likely.

These people need to be tracked down just as we'd track down nazi war criminals.

It doesnt matter if they're dead. We need to know the truth.

Thank <insert deity name> we had the likes of Robbo, Nell McAfferty and others who were brave enough to risk the wrath of society.

Tis alright the Gardai say it's a pre Famine burial ground.

The shams were way ahead of the rest of the world building concrete septic tanks in pre famine times.

Maybe its just me complaining about poor reporting but I just saw a GalwayBayFM headline that said "Government considering investigation"

"Considering"???? What? they're unsure whether an investigation is needed or not?

Why if the IRA is a proscribed organisation, after all the crimes committed by the RC cult and its affiliate organisations, are they not proscribed too?

From what I read it seemed like locals knew it was a grave site but thought it was a Famine era mass grave. Most likely because that's the story the nuns put out.

The government is flat out 'considering investigations'. Tis like silage season for them.

What the bloody hell do the Garda think they are at??? A famine grave? After all we've been through with them this year already??

Im beginning to think I live in a Kafka novel. This country I love I am ashamed of. Feel like tearing up my passport today.

YET AGAIN THOSE WAGONS ARE BEING CIRCLED: RC CHURCH - GARDA - GOVERNMENT.

GO TO BED SHEEPLE OF IRELAND AND DO WHAT YOU ARE TOLD. MOVE ALONG.

SHAME ON YOU APOLOGISTS AND ENABLERS .

Time to start treating the religious orders involved in this as crime organizations they are.
Their assets should have been seized after they refused to cover compensation.

What's the point in petitioning Frances Fitzgerald? That bitch has known all about the grave (and others like it) for 3 years at this stage and done nothing about it in her time as Children's Minister.

Making it public in an international way, shaming them into doing something. Because this is shameful, for all of us, and we will all express the shame and remorse that is due for this. But the Catholic Church won't unless they are forced to, and forced out of Irish daily life once and for all.
