    Hello Boardies,

Had a bit of a fall last week and managed to dislocate my thumb. (I THINK!!)

I landed on my hand, and felt a pop in my thumb. I felt that it popped out and back in, because afterwards I was still able to move my thumb. It's been sore now for a few days, especially around the lower joint think its called the carpometacarpal joint.

Anyway the reason for my post here is find out what I should do. My initial thought was to go to Doc/A&E but frankly don't want taking a place up in a&e with a sore thumb, or paying to see a doc who charges me €50 to say theirs noting they can do. So can anyone here point me in the right direction as to what I should do??

Go to the doc. If they need an xray or whatever they'll give you a referral which will help along the line

Your thumb may be fine, or it may be about to fall off. WE DON'T KNOW. :) Which is why medical advice is not allowed here. Youll need to make the decision on what to do yourself. Sorry.

A referral from a doctor will save you the a&e charge, and if you go, try and go during a quiet time at a&e if possible for less delays.
