Now there's something I didn't know an hour ago....good stuff

helps with with lambs too if you are trying to foster on to another ewe

dip the lamb into a bucket of warm salty water & rub fluids from the foster ewe

not 100% effective but nothing is with sheep :(

Now THAT is one fancy bit of gear for paring hooves.

The guy we get has to winch it and do it all manually. He's built like a tank though with muscle everywhere so I guess it works easily for him!

Contractor brought his own Volvo L70 to push up while I was milking and AI'ng. I jumped up to push up a load. Have to say mine would eat it for speed at moving a load. He's bringing 75cum in the wagon and I took 7 runs to move it wher mine would shift it in 5. Really dead on the pit but plenty of weight for rolling and that's where mine would lose out

I was wondering the same thing! How do you get a bull with bad feet to jump up?!

Looks like this one doesn't tilt over either

Helped a neighbour last year and the hoof man had a crush like that one and he could raise it on the hydraulic stands. Bull walked into it when level with the ground. It looks to me like this one is the same. If you look at photo 2 it appears that the stands are raised 8 or 10 inches.

There's a fella around here that has one mounted to the back of a Ford 150 pickup truck. The big American ones. It comes Don along the side and folds up on its bed on its side.

Volvo L90 are a good machine on the pit.
You can let 4 or 5 loads build up in front of you no bother.

Even with an L70 you could let 3 loads build up and there'd be no bother in clearing it.

This is what i was wondering. I assumed that the crush could be dropped or opened somehow but its the fact that it seems to be out in the middle of the yard. If the bull is queit enough to just hop on then fair play!

the crush is dropped to ground level & the backing gate when open blocks the far side , a gate at the end of crush blocks near and swings away (out of view)

the backing gate is hydraulic & acts as push on but the bull is too long so cannot be used until he is actually in the crush

of course it was the one day that we hadn't a cow in heat , to run in front of him
