They were scumbags in to drugs, violence and extortion - take your pick. And everybody knows that. You can't hide it.

And look at the glorious leftovers of the provos today. Gangsters and thugs.

"preying on the vulnerable"...how? Like making stuff up?

They are promising things they can't deliver. They are lying (probably not out of choice because they genuinely are probably not advanced enough to know what they are talking about anyway) and giving false hope.

What they want is some equivalent of Cuba in this part of the world. Great for luring the hard done bys but ultimately life would just be a whole lot worse for everybody.

Evidence of drugs......? Where is it?

Would one member of the British Army into drugs make the entire BA drug runners?

*flashback to FG and LP manifestos prior to last G.E.* - gosh...look at all those promises they couldn't deliver....

As for Cuba...it's it amazing how a small island under sanctions from their very large, very powerful, very rich neighbour for over 60s years seems to have failed to go into complete economic meltdown... wish we have a few of their economic advisers over here

And I notice you stay away from the extortion and protection rackets the ra use to run in Belfast and Dublin in the good old days.

They were and are psychotic lowlifes.

Are you crazy? Do you think Cubans have a better standard of living than Irish people? :pac:

He wasn't a member, they used him to get in weapons, not drugs, if you read the article. Where is the evidence of the IRA being involved in the drugs trade?

    Hyperbole. Great word that.

Ample evidence they were and none that they were not.

So the provos were not psychotic warped murderers according to you? So how do you explain their actions then?

They have a better health system anyway.

Perhaps if US bullyboys (that we aid and abet )left them alone they would improve standards of living for their people.

    We're already into "prove-they-weren't" territory here I see. :p

    Where?

Psychotic warped murderers don't suddenly stop. The IRA put down their weapons and held to their word when they got a deal they could stand by. Quite a simple distinction for the not simple.

They can't because they implement a failed economic ideology. It's most basic disasterous end is seen in North Korea.

That is the ultimate outcome of a communist ideology. And that is what Mr Adam's wants for this country. Not because of the outcome but because he clearly does not understand the consequences of the philosophy.

And what did we get with Bertie and Enda's system exactly?
Would you say those 'systems' where a success for all of our people?

Well, some did, some became the RIRA and CIRA, who are regularly accused by Sinn Fein supporters of being gangsters and drug dealers.

Other good republicans, went on to donate money to state funds

Are you seriously suggesting that life today despite the (temporary) crisis is any near remotely as bad for the average Irish person as for either the average North Korean or Cuban?

If you genuinely believe that then there must be something wrong with you. You must be in cuckoo land.

I didn't refer to North Korea.

No, we have a much better general standard of living. The point is though that Cuba is poor because any outside investment and exportation is hampered by bullyboy sanctions of the US.
Those things that they can control, like their health service, they have gotten spectacularly right.
So, potentially, left alone, we have no idea what standard of living they might be able to provide for their people.

we could have a fantastic health system as well if we paid our doctors the same wage as we pay people who sweep the streets.

Yes, some did object to the deal. But only an idiot would claim that the IRA are still an active and psychotic force. There is absolutely no evidence of either, just like there is none to suggest that they where, as a movement involved in drug trafficking.

Question for the pro IRA posters in the thread:

The man in question who is currently supported by Sinn Fein in his canvassing for said party knowingly murdered two children, YES or No???

Straight answers please, none of this "well the brits did x, y & z" dodging.

Some of the psycho's that were (and still are) part of the "dissident" Republican movement were once the golden boys and girls of the PIRA.

This is all waffle anyway. SF's policies of increasing the progressive tax rates and a wealth tax have nothing in common with either North Korea or Cuba anyway.
    Non point from the outset.
If you want to look at countries with the most equitable income distribution they tend to be among the most successful in the world.
