You post scores a solid '7' on the whataboutery scale.

    Well done.

Absolutely...pointing to the lazy hypocrisy of the easily led.

    And you know this how?

Because most normal non-psychopathic people dont. We know that Thomas McMahon did get up that morning with the intention of murdering children.

I was always under the impression Mounbatten was killed because he was a well know peadophile/abuser of young boys.

Will Gerrys Bro be a target now?

I wonder will any of the hysterical Indo readers be holding the current Irish government responsible for aiding and abetting the killing of many many women and children by the drone attacks of the United States? Or for the many deaths because of a ravaged and savaged health system here?

I don't suppose those CURRENT ongoing realities are visible from the high moral ground.

Huh!? What kind of a stupid irrelevant comment is this?
    Smokescreen.

I won't be voting for Sinn Fein. I was sickened that they would threaten the peace process by saying they would have to reconsider their support for policing in the North when Adams was arrested. I felt they were holding the peace of the north to ransom because the police had the audacity to question their leader in respect of a murder. That genuinely appalled me and for that they will not be considered for my vote.

The man in question didn't plant the bomb based on some grudge he personally held against Mountbatten. The IRA issued an apology though. .

Didn't you do any research or are you trotting out "populist drivel"?

McMahon has never apologised to Mr Maxwell or Lord Mountbatten's family for the terrorist attack.

    "I was only following orders"?

That's OK so, he's not a despicable person in that case.

+1 I was leaning towards voting for them. I was ok on the Adams arrest (even though he is baggage they need to offload) but McGuinness' statements at the time showed how undemocratic SF could turn out to be if they ever get into power.

And the Indo REVEALING breathlessly that SHOCK HORROR, a former combatant(imagine that!) is working with SF isn't a 'smokescreen' for another agenda?
Jaysus, sometimes the stupidity and ignorance of our electorate depresses me.

You do 'get' what is meant by smokescreen in this context, don't you?

    Jeez.

Mudslinging didn't stick to Adams. QUICK LADS TARGET SOMEONE ELSE.

The establishment are shıtting themselves. I find it hysterical :D

Target someone who was convicted of killing to kids . I'm glad the media highlighted this . Only served as a reminder as to why I don't want those scumbags in power

You should be pretty ashamed of yourself for trying to justify this cowards actions in later posts too

With his comments about SF possibly reconsidering their support for policing and even the peace process, Marty took a double barrel shotgun, carefully pointed it at his right foot and pulled the trigger. The one-legged backhopping that ensued a day later was hilarious to behold. But the damage was done.

    Combatant eh? Who was he fighting in Sligo exactly. Was it;
    a) The 79 year old man
    b) The 83 year old woman
    c) The 15 year old boy
    d) The 14 year old boy

You've obviously never taken on an 83 year old woman in hand to hand combat. Those handbags really hurt.

In fairness he is more than a "former combatant", he killed two kids, he pulled a gun and opened fire in the High Court after that and threatened to shoot anyone who got in his way.
While the IRA issued a limited apology, others like Patrick McGee have gone much further and taken personal responsibility.
McMahon has never personally apologised or shown any shred of remorse and has twice refused requests to meet with the Maxwell family.

How many of the parachute regiment have made personal apologies for bloody Sunday as a matter of interest?

    Were they merely following orders?

A little less whataboutery and sticking to the matter in hand would go a long way.

Stop trying to sidetrack the discussion. This thread is about a particular child murderer. Wrongdoing by the other side doesnt justify the murder of children.

You think of one of them was canvassing for the a unionist party that it wouldn't be highlighted in the media ?

Probably not though, because that wouldn't for your conspiracy theory that "esthablishment" is out to get Sinn Fein

The IRA are gone and the war is over.

I imagine there's many people who are former serving British soldiers who took part in a variety of conflicts campaigning with various political parties. I don't see a massive difference between that and former IRA members supporting Sinn Féin to be honest.

All the political parties have blood on their hands if you go back far enough.
For the rest of us the civil war ended in 1923.

At this stage the only living politicians down here with blood are those who were/are members of SF and it's been that way for generations.

The only parties with blood are those who split from the original SF
unless you want to include those Green Party or PD atrocities

Until such time as they decide they are not getting what they want from the peace process. Martin McGuinness's veiled threats when gerry adams was arrested made that quite clear.

In other words , now that your pitiful attempts to justify the murder of two children have fallen on their face you've decided to ignore them completely .

The man killed three people, and has shows no remorse . Adams defending his involvement in Sinn Fein shows just how little Sinn Fein have really evolved
