If it was me I would go to a sperm clinic and pick an anonymous donor, I really don't think it's cool to go ahead and make someone a parent without their knowledge and consent just because you want a kid.

Guys are lucky in that they can have kids whenever they want to, generally speaking. Women have that ticking clock, she's 33 now, say she meets someone in the next couple of months, they date for a couple of years before they get engaged, she's then 35, another year before the wedding, 36, trying for a year, 37, finally has her first, 38, that doesn't leave her much options, even if they skip the whole engagement/wedding stuff if she wants more than 1 or 2 she's going to have them back to back. After 35 it's considered a geriatric pregnancy, there is a higher risk of complications for mother and baby, it's harder to get pregnant with each year that goes by.

I don't think it's fair to call her a psycho bitch, yes she's going about it in all the wrong ways but she's being realistic, at 33 her options are very limited.

Send her a turkey baster with instructions on how to blow etc and a bunch of Red Roses. Remove the thorns first - as she obviously doesn't like pricks!

I know thats what's really grinding my gears.Shes typically normal in everyway and she seems to be getting the go ahead from other friends too. I just dont see how this is something to be able to do casually.

It's not casual - she has a plan.

Also, isn't this what sperm banks are for? Or do they even have sperm banks in ireland?

    They've all been NAMA'd

And this made you see all females in a different light. Really? Really?

Well I wasnt going to make a list of female catagories of who may be capable of doing something like this,so I did what people generally do and generalised.

Nah, but to be serious about it. Its a very deceitful thing to do to someone.

So you generalised an entire gender because you consider your friend to be a "pyscho bitch".

Does that seem like a mature and reasonable decision to make?

I'm 37, single, and would love to be a dad. I'd seriously consider having a baby in this way if I was guaranteed parental guardianship and I got on well with the mother. I've given myself till I'm 40 and then I may go down the same route as her. Nothing wrong with it but it would have to be 100% above board.

"female categories"? Do you mean "individual specimens of wimminz"?

"I must have forgotten to take the pill"

"Oh, I think he`s going to break up with me. I know what I`ll do, I`ll forget to take the pill, then when I`m pregnant he might stay with me!"

Crazy broody lady! Tell her to just get a dog or something instead in the meantime or adopt a child, or a sperm donor as somebody else mentioned!

Has anyone actually commented on the subject of the op? Time and again I see the same posters completely derail threads purely because of the gender of the person in the OP.

OP this woman is completely unhinged. Get as far away as possible.

Keep your mickey in your trousers, she sounds like she needs a new accessary. Tell her to go buy a handbag or new shoes.

or shop for what some females call a b o b, (battery operated boyfriend).

    He called her

    a friend

    down to earth

    a psycho bitch.

This tells me he's an unreliable narrator.

I wont be going near her anyway, but I can tell she's going to go random on this.

You didn't. Nor did I say you did.

You said that it has made you look at all females in a different light.

Do you think that your opinion of all females being changed because of your friend's actions is mature and reasonable?

He's already calling women "females." It's too late for him.

    Female is derogatory now?

Female what? She the cat's mother?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,797 ✭✭✭KyussBishop

Uhm, I know it's only implied in the OP, not directly stated, but intentionally getting knocked up by lying to someone, and making them the father, and never telling them (yet having the legal capability to lay claim to their earnings/assets for the next 18 years) - that is a really shít thing to do

Or perhaps he though well of her until she unveiled this plan, but now he sees a "psycho" side to her and his conflicting descriptions of her reflect his now-conflicted opinion of her.

    Female is derogatory now?

At best it's badly phrased. Especially as we all know the correct way for a "male" to address a "female" is with a "M'lady!" and a tip of that day's fedora.
