The box in the store says saorview. And besides it's illegal to sell TVs in Ireland that aren't saorview compatible.

    I call shenanigans!

I can see some for sale in argos that are not compatible.

Where did you get this information from?

Most tvs now are saorview compatible anyways. If it has a mpeg4 timer, then it will work with saorview. But it won't get the digital text. Mpeg5 tuner is needed for the digital text.

Huh, France and Italy have banned tvs that aren't DVB-T2, thought they did it here too. Why sell tvs that are only partially compatible.

Argos sell them because they source all their stock from the UK. Tesco might be similar for some items.

Because they have stock, and people will buy shiny things. I don't have an antennae on my roof, saorview isn't any priority for me.

Because some people have no interest in saorview, so could be offered a cheaper alternative that they would happily buy.

Some people want no tuner at all, so you then need no TV licence.

I read there is some law here about the legality of non-soarview tvs, about the product being fit for purpose for the next 2 years or something. I also read they simply have to sell them as monitors and not tvs, so it is possibly legal to sell this device, just don't call it a tv, seems a grey area to me. The argos link says
This TV will not work with digital signals in the Republic of Ireland, you will require a digital set top box or satellite source.

So that might be enough of a disclaimer, and similar to the trick of calling it a monitor.

Back on topic, 4 packs of double deckers were still 1.39 in my tesco the other day, online it said it was over on 6/5/14

only drawback with the Xbox Elite is you may have to also invest in a wireless network receiver.

Bought one of the 32 inch ones yesterday. I see a few posts wondering about text. It has aertel. I think the sound and picture are very good. Based on one nights usage -I'm very happy with it.

Is it the old Aertel or the new digital Aertel? And it's Blaupunkt yes?

Nestlé Dairy box, the deluxe collection 400g 40chocs scanning at 4.74
The 180g dairy box is priced at 4.99

At least 3 left in Carrick on Shannon, not in the usual place.
Back wall, top shelf, to the right hand side, beside other chocolates, no shelf label.
Kinda towards where the birthday cards are.

Checked Galway sc in the back they had 250 Gb xbox with kinect for 249 but none on offer for €99. I didn't check main store as they rarely have them in that side.
I got a xbox pro edition (20 gb disk ) in Ballinrobe for €99 but it looked like I got the last one the others in stock were €249

The 5 year old would enjoy it alright but it's a small bit advanced for a three year old. But for €8 my 2 and a half year old is quite happy with the flashing lights and music so its upto you.
Either way you'll get more use (frustration) out of it than both of them.
