That's exactly where it is, walk off left side of 5th green through the trees down too water's edge.

The 10th tee is just left of 9th green so can no longer see down the fairway which is pity

I agree, it was a lovely vista. Perhaps they could have just made the hole a par 4 for the Irish Open..

Good to hear that Mannassero and the Molinari's have been confirmed. The field is looking like it will be better quality than last couple of years!

I'm planning on going on the Friday and following Ollie for a few holes..such class. If only Jimenez would play, I'd have a cigar watching him!

One to look out for is the new tee on No6. Its right down on the edge of the water. It makes the drive so much more interesting: A big carry over trees, and if you are standing up on the old tee box you'll get a great view of shots coming into the 5th green as well as a great view of the players teeing off on 6. This should be a great spot to stay around.

Played from the new 6th tee on Monday. It's a 180/200 y carry over the wall to reach the fairway. Honestly, I think the drive from the old tee box is more interesting and the hole more attractive. But the new drive will be far more intimidating.

I have a pic somewhere. i'll get it up later

Its a shame that the Irish Open (19th to 22nd June) and the 1st British Amatuer Open (16th to 21st June) in Ireland since 1949 (Portmarnock) are on at the same time. Given the geographic distance between the 2 events I doubt it would effect the numbers attending the events. But not only will it dilute the potential coverage of both events but it also means that some of the top ranked Irish amateurs will have to choose between events.

Nice shots there Kevin. That's some par 3 in Water Rock isn't it? I played it off the blue tips one day with a smooth driver and put it on the middle of the green....only playing for awhile at that stage too and remember it like yesterday.

The 6th tee box in Fota looks amazing....if it's windy it could wreak havoc I'd imagine.

The bunkering in Cork looks fab too.

Correction: the BAO has been held in Ireland several times since 1949 in Portrush and RCD

That looks like some intimidating tee shot. Is the hole a par 4?

Great photos Kevin , what did you think of the changes in Cork GC ?

Yep, a par four. A straight hole from the Pro tees, but a gently sweeping left to right, with a tree-lined backdrop.

In a word... 'superb'. I was playing with 5 UK golf journalists and they all raved about it. The bunkering makes such a difference to the holes, especially on what I had considered to be the duller holes - say 1, 14, 18.

Someone on here was saying that the bunkering wasn't MacKenzie-like - I have to disagree... and not because I know much about it, but because one of the journos has been writing about golf for 40 years and is a big MacKenzie fan. He called the bunkers mini-mackenzies. That told me all I needed to know.

The place just looks so much more dramatic.
