Tried them. They were unable to provide an unlock code. My email requesting a refund has gone unanswered.

Anyone else success in getting a refund from them?

My online order is showing as "order ready" but says delivery date "unavailable". Anyone else get theirs online and what did the order tracking say?

Or you could go with this for 25 euro:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Unlock-Code-Nokia-Lumia-920-820-620-625-520-1020-925-Vodafone-Ireland-Network-/271469510539

I did it yesterday and got mine unlocked no bother. Took about a day.

What does it mean when they cut down an ordinary SIM? It can never be used in a non smart phone again?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 829 ✭✭✭smellmepower

It won't fit in a regular sim slot again, but you can just go and get a normal sim in the Carphone Warehouse or wherever and transfer your number to that if you need to use a phone that has a regular sized sim again.

You can also get a micro sim adapter. But buy a good one as if its loose it can get suck in the phone, and if you break a pin in the sim slot the phone is broken.

On a cheap phone or one you have easy access to the slot, its less of a risk.

So getting the number transferred as above to a new sim might be a better idea on some phones.

they should give you a replacement dual size sim which can be used for either size slot, You can get one in any meteor store.

will it have my number? expansys dot ie/nokia-lumia-520-white-250230/ says this phone is discontinued is that why the good deal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 654 ✭✭✭thebuzz

So when you factor in the cost of unlocking the phone (presuming you don't want Meteor), is there much of a saving in these? Thinking of getting one.

Is giving my name and address when buying these in a carphone warehouse store optional?
I just don't know why they need such details

they say it is for warranty but i do not believe it. they also in my exp send texts as follow up. i bought a phone for someone else.my understanding is that using the purchasers database to send marketing texts may breach data protection. you could buy phone and then write and say remove me from your data base

ask for a replacement sim and they will transfer your acount(bill or PAYG) onto a blank sim for you.

A year or so ago, a CPW store wouldn't sell my wife a PAYG phone unless she gave her date of birth as well! Walked out and bought same phone in a different shop with no questions at all
