18, but just a dash of sliver. They feel much stronger than normal hairs

That's what mine are. My whole 2! Really strong and feel more like…I can only describe it as the hair on plastic dolls or the mane and tail on my little pony toys!

The hairdresser pulled the long one out and I was FURIOUS!

It was fairly embarrassing for the young fella. It was bad enough that it was obvious to everyone but when the teacher brought attention to it he looked as if he wanted the ground to open up and swallow him.

Started at 32 or so, now 36 and quite a few show if I dont keep on top of the colouring! I did well though, one sibling started going grey in their teens & his younger than me & has a full head of grey hair - my Mum was fully grey by mid 20s.

Started noticing them myself and confirmed at 29. Though I think they've been there at least a year it's just denial that prevented me acknowledging them.

I've only found the first few in the last year or two (I'm 39). A good innings I think - my 3 bestest friends all were either balding or greying by 30. I'm hitting 40 with just the start of a bit of grey and (maybe) some receding.

I'm quite a fan of a guy with a splattering of grey. It's very distinguished looking. Sexy.

Only in the last two months! And I turn 34 tomorrow! My hair is blonde, so they could be mistaken for very blonde hairs. Not a huge amount yet but just a gentle reminder of things to come. Hurrah!

A "splattering of grey" sounds a bit 50 Shades Of... :D

A few days after my 22 birthday.

Two years ago, when I was 20 and quite stressed. It was really obvious because my hair is dyed dark brown but the root of that one grey hair was white as snow (not grey at all actually). I pulled it out and it hasn't had the gall to return. Yet!

My gran was going grey until she developed alopecia and most of her hair fell out. When it came back, it was jet black again and stayed that way until she died.

I'm have been through hell over the last few years in comparison to dad at when he was my age, so I'm delighted I've got a thick head of hair, that's jet black, because he was well on his way to going bald and grey at my age.

If it didn't happen over last the few years, it'll never happen (fingers crossed)

I've a feeling baldness, somehow missed my active gene pool.

All the hairs grow white and it only looks grey when it's mixed with the natural hair. I was blown over when I first found this out!

I agree with others here, grey hair on a man is sexy :)

I was 19. I'm 32 now and I have quite a few grey patches. For some reason, there's a lot more grey on the left side of my head. My hair's really thick though, so it'll probably take a long time before I'm completely grey.

I am 42 and have a few on my head, not too many to be honest but I .am....eh....thin on top!
The grey hairs on my chest are like guitar strings....they grow thicker and faster than the rest.

50 & grey as a badger, although I still have a full thick head of hair & a heavy beard growth (also grey)

I wouldn't mind having a full head of white hair and I've often thought about bleaching it but my hair is quite dark so I'd probably ruin it. It's such a pain that it takes so long for all the hair to change. It's not so bad for men because they start to look distinguished but it doesn't look so good on women. Mother Nature is a sexist biatch :(

They started appearing when I was in my mid 30's, I'm in my early 40's now and completely grey at the sides but still my natural colour on top

    16, and I'm 18 now and they've slowed down, only about 6-7

When I was 23 I noticed the first few, I don't mind them really

Really? I didn't know that. Fun fact for the day!

If I start to get really grey when I'm older, I might try to get a hairdresser to lighten my hair in such a way that I can phase in the grey, rather than trying to cover it in dark dye for the rest of my life, or ending up in that weird growing-it-out phase.

Going lighter is definitely the way to go. My mother has dark hair and never once dyed it until her greys really started to show. Someone convinced her to dye it and she loved it. She now is honey blond, she loves it and it really suits her! The regrowth isn't that noticeable which is a huge bonus.

I knew someone who had black hair and you could tell that she dyed it because the regrowth stood out a mile and looked awful. She had quite a lot of white in her hair, so the regrowth didn't have to be long for it to be noticeable.

When I get to the stage of choosing to go grey gracefully or cover it, I'll definitely be covering it but I'll start to go lighter than my own hair.

I'm rocking a natural badger streak look (or so I like to think :pac:) but you're right - lighter is the way to go if you want to dye it as your skin changes too and a stark contrast of dark dye will throw every wrinkle into sharp relief.

We met my Mam's cousin last week and her hair is completely white. It is beautiful! She looks great.

This is kinda off topic but I was totally shocked when my mother got her hair dyed. She was staunchly against dying your hair and any time me or my sisters did it we got the lecture about how our hair would fall out or "you look better with the hair God gave you" which resulted in this reaction

It makes me wonder what beliefs I hold now that I will change when I get older. I don't believe in botox or lip injections or surgery as I think everyone ends up looking like a demented cat caught in a wind tunnel but I wonder if I will feel the same in the future.

I wish there was a way that we could mark posts so that we could come back to them in 30 years and see if we still felt the same :D

17! I was so paranoid about them when they first appeared. I've gotten used to them now. I try to not dye my hair every 6 weeks as it's bleedin' expensive. So I've learnt to just live with them

Cure meant to be found for Greying hairs. Only 31 myself but have had grey's since my early 20s. Dont like them.

I notice people with natural black hair (such as myself) tend to get grey's quicker than other hair types.

I for one would give it a try. Im assuming its prescription.
