This month, I'm 23, none in my hair, but a few in my beard.

    I quite like them actually.

24 and none so far. But I'm a natural red head so we get more mileage.

I only got concerned at my first grey ear hairs. That magical hairy woodland now looks more like a haunted forest. The unicorns that dwelled there have all been eaten by hideous monsters :(

I'm 20 and I think I found one last week, college exams taking their toll :pac:

I wish I still had greys. Nothing but Crome dome up the these days.

None so far, I'm 22. I have jet black hair so only a matter of time before they start showing.

I'm losing my hair at the moment because of a medical problem (not cancer/chemo before anyone jumps the gun). Hopefully it'll be sorted soon and it'll start to grow back properly. *sniffles* :(

not true in my case - we just go gold instead of grey. :)

My beard is turning white if I don't shave it

I call my two silver. The long one doesn't feel like normal hair. It's much stronger.

I noticed it last year so I was 23.

37, have one or two starting to appear in my beard on the chin. Looks kind of cool when short but would need a few more.

Ohhhh, that actually sounds lovely! Natural highlights! Although my hair has been so heavily dyed since I was a teenager that I'd say it'll give up the ghost long before I get the chance to go grey.

Don't dye red hair! I was looking at old photos recently, and sighing over my former pre-raphaelite locks. There's one redhead in every branch of my family, and the men and the women who didn't dye it ended up with white-and-gold hair.

Surprised at how many people start going grey in their early 20s. I noticed my first one at almost 25 and thought that was insanely young. Have quite a few greys now, at almost 29, all around the front where they're noticeable!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

Last summer, at 29. Have a few greys around my temples, but I'm a natural blonde so they're not really obvious at all.

It's far too late for me now! Been dyed off my head from about 15. I was strawberry blonde and absolutely HATED it. Growing it back now though.

Had a small crop show up on one temple at 20 for some reason, but that went away after a while. Quite MIlls and Boon dashing at the time. :D Though weird to see a grey hair with a black root when it grew out. The main event hit in my mid 30's when the scattered among black previously red hairs went grey. They seemed the weakest. the black fellas only started to succumb after 40. Same thing happened in my beard. I'll gloss over the underclothes area, but same vibe there too. I suppose I could break out the oul dye, but it nearly always looks daft, unless you've got Brad Pitt's stylist and lots of time and money. Arsed I couldn't be TBH.

I have a close mate who started to go grey a good few years back and he did go the dye route. The joke is the jammy bastard's original hair colour as luck would have it is "Hair dye brown" so it's completely unnoticeable and he seems to have down to a fine art. I didn't spot a thing until he told me after a few beers in. Nobody else has spotted it either(including his barber FFS) and he reckons underneath he's as grey as a ghost now. The beard growth gives the game away so his 5 O'clock shadow of yore is ruthlessly shaved. :D

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Noticed I had about 5/6 on my crown when I was 19 :( so I just pulled them out.

I'm 22 now and when I don't dye it I have loads, only on the crown towards the back. Too many to pull!

26 now and getting more and more :/ I blame the job

29 and haven't noticed any yet. That's not to say there's none there though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 453 ✭✭Mandzhalas

    20. but started increasing rapidly from 28

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,758 ✭✭✭✭TeddyTedson

I think I was 22ish. It's fairly rapid now though. The sides of my hair at the front are gone white rather grey it seems though.
I've seen some people who seem to get it sporadically all over their hair yet mine is all on the front sides?

15/16. Completely grey by 30. Looks excellent.

    21. I'm 23 now and i've quite a few at the sides.

Don't drink and don't smoke. Fuarkin' genetics....

I went bald instead, I am 36 and the bit I have at the back and sides have no grey at all in em. Knowing my luck if I hadn't gone bald I would have been grey at 19

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 893 ✭✭✭PLL

    23. No grey hairs but plenty of wrinkles, more than my mom had at 40, and she always told me that the women in our family have good skin and i will get very few wrinkles and it will be late in life. Erm ok. I do have a 2yr old though.

Age 16. Been gradually getting greyer and greyer ever since.

It surprises me the amount of people who have no qualms about pointing it out to me. From the barber to people I don't really know very well. It's not the kind of thing I would say to a person, myself.

36 now. Have a few at the sides. Just noticed one at the front this week!

I have ginger hairs in my dark brown beard, the ladies love that.

I don't have any grey hairs.

I've been getting them at the sides for the past year or two,i keep my hair tight so they are only noticeable when the hair grows out a bit. I couldn't give two fcuks anyways to be honest,I've had a good run

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,163 ✭✭✭✭danniemcq

28, but only in my facial hair and there is only one of them

32 now, and have maybe 6 or so randomly in my hair and probably only myself that notices them and only when I've no gel in my hair. Every one of the feckers caused by my job too I reckon. :)

What age did you start to notice your first few greys?

    3 years ago (age 25).

Herself has been plucking them for me, ever since (by my request).

I'm not vain, and i could care less about my appearance and regularly dress like a hobo, but grey hairs are where i draw the line.

I dont have grey hair, I have silver highlights :P

I started getting them at about 15, everyone keeps telling me to Dye my hair but it doesnt really bother me once I still have my hair :D Im 31 now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,148 ✭✭✭orchidsrpretty

I was about 19/20 when I started noticing them. I have jet black hair so was pretty obvious. I started dying my hair then. I'm 30 now and am pretty much completely grey. It's not the nice type of silver grey either, they look like shiny pubic hair. I have to dye the roots every 10 days or so and if i leave it longer than that, I am amazed at the amount of people that stare and pass comments like " OMGGGG you are SO grey" oh really? I never noticed.........

21, only had a couple for a few years and then when I was pregnant it was like a grey explosion! I'm 28 now and if I'm dying my hair I have to go for those ones that have "100% grey coverage"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,096 ✭✭✭Reiketsu

I'm 26 and have been getting them for about 5 years. I've been dying my hair for 14 years though and I hear that speeds up the process. You should see my hair when I don't dye it regularly :O

When I was 20. I'm 24 now and around the back and sides I've a good few greys and I've noticed a few creeping in on top

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,861 ✭✭✭Irishcrx

Started around 26 , 27 now and noticing a few more creeping up around the sides. But my hairs very short on the sides so it's not really noticeable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 196 ✭✭Dave H

I noticed a couple when I was about 30 (34 now) and there's only been a couple more since. The only person in my family (blood relative) with grey hair is my dad but he had jet black hair. My grandfather on his side had a full head of blonde hair when he died at 74, so I don't know what funky genetics our bunch has.
I think I'll leave it long even if I do go fully grey.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,766 ✭✭✭Bongalongherb

I started going grey at 17, now 44 and 3 quarters of my hair has gone from grey to white, not good at all, but that's where grecian 2000 comes in. Or just for men.
