haha.... And what are you're team polishing this season besides there knobs?

Oh you, you silver tongued devil you.

Quite the charmer you are. I'm blushing, so I am.

Both teams have had spectacular seasons.

We have had a spectacular rise to second, up 5 places.

You have had a spectacular fall to seventh, collapsing, or slipping you could say, 6 places.

So, obviously, you have had a more spectacular season than us.

I gracefully concede, you are more spectacular than us.

You must therefore be in 7th heaven:-)

I might be a bit early but how much is the prize money for finishing 2nd place? Approx or ballpark figure?

97m or so I think. There was a table printed here recently. It's 99m for the winner and 20th gets 60m.

Also, while I'd be happier for us to win the league obviously (which at least we still have an outside chance of doing), I'd prefer to get the haters slagging us because we finished 2nd (or 3rd) than because we finished 6th-8th where we have been recently, and that's not a pop at utd.

I really feel sorry for those opposition fans reading this thread though who have expressed their outrage at Liverpool fans derailing other threads (which I have personally railed against as well, by the way). They must be too outraged to post about it.

Kind of think it might be time for one of those thread agreed "mass-ignores" we do from time to time. There's only so much one can talk about fake bets without it getting old.

Twas fun while it lasted but, as you say, yesterdays news.

I'll promise I will be whistling dixie from now on

The new TV deal means 20th team gets more than Man Utd did for winning last season!

Suarez was clearly finding it hard to come to terms with losing a guaranteed six goals a season what with Norwich being relegated.

Pretty much this. No matter the subject matter, they aren't funny, it is painfully poor.

Getting up in the morning is hard enough as is. I can't imagine choosing to listen to them while enduring it. I die a little inside when it is booming out in Spar at 7.30am and I am trying to ease into the day. That said, I don't listen to radio dj's anyhow, they are all utter bellends, djmaster2ks, churned out in the same Factory (somewhere by way of America I can only presume by warrant of their generic dj twangs/''accents').

    Anyhow, enough rantage.

    We're gunna win the league.

I don't know who Knobby supports but that Slim Jim lad is some dic jokey, he's the type of fan that I'd be ashamed to have associated with the club I support..

Been really impressed with City these last few games. They have probably been buoyed by the Liverpool results but they have really gone about their business in a really patient, professional way.

Really have been a fan of Pelligrini who has led the way with his calmness. He comes across as a real gentleman, but obviously with a serious winning mentality.

They completely controlled the game last night and I expect them to cast aside West Ham in the same manner.

Personnally, I'm a big Liverpool fan, but it's still only football. You win some, you lose some. I have never been as entertained as a Liverpool fan as I have been the last 2 seasons.

This season, we nearly did, the closest in 24 years, and I had to keep checking myself because I was getting to carried away.

I firmly believe we will be close again next year with some new players and a manager that's very quick to learn from experience.

It's all comes down to the manager I think so cheers Brendan.

I enjoy the slagging means we are relevant again, it's just jealousy in the end

Contrast that to the reaction of United losing at home to Sunderland,

Plenty of chances on Sunday....the hardcore ones will only come out once City have officially won. They won't risk it blowing up in their face.

It looks likely now that Liverpool won't win it, hugely disappointing for ye. Know ye have seen huge strides made by the club and i actually think Rodgers is a great manager he's shown a lot if naiveity in last few weeks. We (utd) have had a few seasons where we've effectively thrown it away somewhat like Liverpool thus season and its gut wrenching.

Do ye now think that ye can push on next year or is this as good as it gets

Do you think Rodgers has to improve his transfer targets. Seems his signings have not established themselves and with Gerrard getting on a bit he'll need his signings to start pushing into the team

Do you think that you'll keep challenging for titles or have you broken into the top four.

I honestly think this was a season you may not see again where it was in your hands and ye threw it away at least not for a few more years anyway. Chelsea while it was rotten to watch found a way to play and beat ye and more clubs will try and copy this way of playing next year. Think city and chelsea will spend heavily next year and arsenal if they can keep their key players injury free and add strong midfielders will push on.

For ourselves im actually excited now, gonna be a big overhaul in club and with 4 or 5 players in we should be back challenging for top 4 next year

I still have hope that "Little Liverpool" (AKA West Ham) will do us a favour at the weekend. For some strange reason I just think that they might nick it and we will take the league :D

What's West hams record vs city like?

Would any clause in his old contract for helping us win the league kick in then?? :D

I never got too excited that we'd win it, so not going to get too down. For every Palace 3-3, there is an Everton 3-3. And for every Chelsea 2-0, there is 3-2. We got some games to go our way, and if we finish 2nd, that'll be about right...

Finally, we have something to build on, the financials are in very good shape, the players are improving, we are going places!

Dump the disappointment but embrace it and learn.

Take a step back and look how far we have come.

Add more quality in the summer and on top of the priceless experience this season will have giving us;push on.

Laugh at the Utd fans cheering on the likes of City etc :)... it tickles me something fierce.

again its not all doom and gloom.

Utd hate city more than us. Yet they cheer them on. It makes absolutely no sense how fickle Utd fans are.

One thing that is really pissing me off as I read around is people saying Liverpool have "bottled it" or it's been a "title collapse"

That is really just the most incredibly inaccurate way of describing Liverpool's season. We will most likely finish the season having won 12, drawn 1 and lost 1 of our last 14 games. Including the longest winning run in the history of the premier league.

To win the league, it looks like we would have had to win 13 and draw 1 of our last 14 games. By not doing that we've collapsed? What nonsense.

The fact we have actually have come so close is something to be incredibly proud of, not something to be ridiculed (if anyone is being in any way genuine). Coming so close makes it hurt like ****, but it's still something to be proud of.

Even with the Crystal Palace game the other night, it wasn't a bottlejob. We'd done the hard thing by getting 3 nil up. We then went chasing goal difference, it was madness, aboslute madness, stupidity of the highest order, but hopefully the team & Rodgers will learn from it.

The simple fact is the league was pretty much lost when we lost to Chelsea, which there is never any shame in. Hopefully Rodgers and the team will also learn from that. But that's the only reason the Palace debacle happened, because we'd lost to Chelsea and knew we'd probably need goal difference so we went chasing it. We just seemingly forgot we actually can't really defend.

The desire from people who didn't want Liverpool to win the league etc to label it as a bottlejob, Rodgers as a fraud, the season as a fluke, players as playing better than they are etc etc is literally some of the most silly stuff I've ever seen or heard. The fact most of these people follow a club who've just had their worst season in modern times explains it somewhat but it's still silly.

Rodgers has proven beyond any doubt he is a fantastic manager. He has already this season shown that he can evolve and adapt so there's no reason to think the lessons of the last few weeks will be lost on him.

The likes of Henderson, Sterling and Sturridge have lived up to the potential that many have suspected they had in a massive way. There is no reason in the world to think that they won't go from strength to strength, particularly as their confidence, the squad & first team are bolstered.

Suarez has had arguably the greatest individual season in the history of the Premier League-yet was actually pretty average by his own standards for much of the second half of it. Every noise from his mouth since last summer is that he wants to get CL with Liverpool, which we've done, at a canter. As such, unless Real come in with a world record bid for him, I can't see either him nor the club being interested in a move.

Gerrard has shown that he can do something many of his critics thought he was incapable of, adapt to a more conservative role.

We now have something we've been missing the last number of years, the lure of CL football, the lure of players thinking they may genuinely be able to win a league title if they go to Liverpool, the lure of one of the youngest most dynamic managers in the game today (who's team play electric football) and much more money than we've been dealing with the last number of years.

Despite what some rival fans seem to be trying to tell themselves or us, it's a pretty awesome time to be a Liverpool fan. While there is nothing certain in football, there is good reason to be very positive about the future.

    this !

as long as it stays in match threads its fine by me,slag away.. we would for sure slag them if it was the other way around ..

there will be plenty of it sunday,if there is any hope we win it they will hide, once we dont they will arrive with trumpets..

personally i think the slagging should be restricted to match threads as they are bad anyway..

one more game this season..one hell of a ride

By my calculations if West Ham get a draw on Sunday, we only have to beat Newcatle by 13 and not 14 to win on Goals Scored.
    Yay
