Except it's even more massive now.

I could actually see West Ham or Villa grind out a 0-0 victory against City. But a win? No way.

I'm still amazed at what I saw last night though.

    :(

    0-0 Victory...? Here's hoping.

Sure if they beat them, it's game on.

    I would agree

He done well up to the time when it became apparent that Liverpool were set for the title.

Should have approached the Chelsea of the opinion that a point would be sufficient and changed the formation and setup accordingly especially as Henderson was out.

I know it had worked but perhaps Lucas into the defensive mid position and Gerrard pushed forward would have been a more pragmatic approach to things

Similarly last night 3 up was fine but needed to keep the players in check to keep concentration and security. Once the first goal went in he should have put Agger on to shore up the defence and maintained the victory.

The run in should be about picking up points but 1 point from Chelsea/Palace isnt title winning form in the run in. 3 more points there would have Liverpool in control of the title on the final game of the season

WWWWWWWWWWWWLD..... Sorry I am finding it hard to be critical.

The thing that crates the most for me is that time is running out for Stevie G to win that premiership medal

This was the big chance. Look at the number of games he and teammates had to play this year. Was it 45? Man City/Chelsea prob had at least 10 more.

Liverpool had no CL, no real cup runs. They really just concentrated on PL.

Next year you have to assume minimum 8 more games in CL (group stages + progression or europa league) and a better performance in either Cup.
They will have to strengthen the squad considerably to cope.

if he doesn't learn from it in the future, he'll deserve criticism.

i can't "blame" a man who lead us to 11 wins and one loss in 13 games, and has us in with a shot (albeit slim) at the title going into the last game.

Message to Benzino, 5Live and others that are fascinated about my bet.

If it is that big of an issue to you I will email you a slip when (or if) my bet comes good. Send me your email address.

To the other genuine supporters apologies for this farce, I just mentioned the bet as a throwaway comment.
Why the fcuk would i give you my email address? You made the comment on thread so you can post the bet on thread or retract.

You talk big but have nothing to back it up.

Your comment about Gerrard winning nothing shows the level you are able to debate on.

It's easy to talk, it's even easier to post the supposed bet. It was laid out so clearly even i could post one up.

Now, as they say over in AH, pics or GTFO.

If anything about last night I am more pissed off about how dis-interested the players seemed to be to push on a 3-0. It was a great chance to really close the gap on the goal difference and there seemed to be very little urgency to make a real go of it.

It was johnson, he got done badly a few times, also moved out of the way for the deflection if the first goal.

Coutinho had the chance to take his ankles just outside the Palace box as the breakaway started. Johnson met him on the halfway line

    Rodgers out.

He has far exceeded expectations, only to raise hopes and then have them dashed. Not good enough.

    Why?

How many other managers could have this Liverpool team going into their final league game, still with a chance of winning the league?

The same team that everyone said was 'midtable quality' a mere 9 months ago.

Also, food for thought, he only turned 41 in January.

He should take criticism, his inability to organize his defense has cost you the league. His silly substation to take off strikers yesterday, and his non-flexability against Chelsea. All his fault.

That was Rodgers fault last night. No question. 10mins to go he should have changed the style and put men behind the ball. Pathetic management .

Should be sacked. Worse than Moyes

City had 14 more games, Chelsea & Arsenal had 13 more. It will play a part, as does injuries, which Arsenal and City suffered from this year. That being said, keeping the current squad, Liverpool shouldn't have to considerbaly improve squad. A CB, CM, possibly ST/WF should be the base you need to make the step up. Borini and Enrique back for next season? Sterling & Henderson had breakout seasons this year and will only get better as well.

He's taken a team from 7th to 1st with a game to go.

If a manager does that at utd next season it'll be a fapfest from the ManU fans

Go way out of that nobdoy has said that, He has done a great job overall this season and you've played brilliantly for most of the season, I just feel he deserves some criticism with the way you got beat against Chelsea (when a draw would have pretty much sealed the title) and the draw last night.

If Henderson wasnt suspended i dont think Liverpool would have lost to Chelsea nor would Palace have gotten back in it for the draw last night.

It's Jordan Henderson not Diego Maradona.

Whereas I'll be the first to admit he's had an excellent season, there are at least four-five players in that Liverpool side who would have been bigger losses than him.

His importance to the side is being overstated this year, whereas last year his talent was underrated (a typical occurrence in football).

As for the title race, I'm in no shape or form a Liverpool supporter, but I did feel bad for them last night, must have been agonising throwing away three goals at such a late stage.

I wouldn't give up hope yet either for the season, City look pretty shaky at the moment and are struggling with injuries to their key men. Although there would have been a far greater chance of Villa or West Ham pulling off a draw as opposed to a win, the City players are only human as well and will be feeling the nerves also at this stage of the campaign.

    Last night's defending deserves criticism.

The season as a whole is way and beyond what Liverpool fans expected.

Were you criticising Fergie when Utd threw it away to Leeds all those years ago?

Absolutely nothing got to do with Man Utd, nobody is going to masturbate over a managers performance.

I'm discussing Brendan Rodgers and why he deserves criticism for the above. You were also lucking against Man City, you conceded a 2 goal lead because of you defensive fragility and only for a slip up by Kompany that gave Coutinhno the chance you would have lost that game aswell.

Since we lost to Chelsea in December its been
    Played 18
    won 14
    Drawn 3
    Lost 1

    That's 45 points from a possible 54 or a 2.5ppg average.

it's been an insane season for LFC.

My expectation was to come in the top 6 and hopefully challenge for Top 4 but never thought it would be this good.

Hopefully the Club have been working away on transfers behind the scenes. it would be great to get deals wrapped up before the World Cup.

They threw it away to City two years ago in a far worse fashion than Liverpool did.

Sure we've been lucky all season.

All those 99 goals were as a result of mistakes if you analyse them properly. I have.

Carra made a good point last night about the defense.

The 3 most important players are Mig, Skrtel and Sakho. Mig doesnt seem to be able to boss the backline, to shout and roar and get them out of the penalty box and compress space in front. Neither Sakho nor Skrtel seem to communicate with each other during the match, to tell each other to push out or come closer.

Also a few commented about Johnson and Lucas being tired. I thought it was very obvious during the last half hour that both had run out of gas. Johnsons coverage of the Palace left winger looked leaden, the mind was willing but the body just wasn't able.

I am immensely proud of those players last night and all through the season. Its been a long time since i was excited about a game a week before it started and i think i like it.

So they made a few errors at the end and were tired. They will learn from this and come back stronger.

We have a squad of 15 players good enough to play for us. With 3-4 starter-level added and a few good prospects added, i think we should do ok next season.

Well done Brendan and the players.:)

One of the best seasons I've experienced as a Liverpool fan that may ultimately end without the league title but along the way the target for fourth was smashed and the team have been playing unbelievable football at times.
Going on a run of form that included 11 straight wins, which included hammering Arsenal and getting a cornucopia of penalties at Old Trafford.
Faltering in the last few furlongs
    eyGexgc.gif

Still marginly in front and anything can happen and usually does happen. It's not over yet and Liverpool have never done anything the easy way in my experience, so why break the habit.
FA Cup victory over West Ham.
Champs League victory over AC Milan.
    FA Cup victory over Aresnal.
Milk Cup(eon, coca cola, littlewoods, etc.) victory over Cardiff.
    UEFA Cup victory over Alaves.

None of those were easy wins, they were all bat**** crazy.

Your attacking quality's have nothing to do with defending. Your struggling to understand how Soccer works by the sounds of it.
    Who mentioned luck?
