Cheers man. Needs a couple of things cleaned up on it before I will be really happy. Was out today with the lads and felt very comfortable on it and was able to keep the pace so going good so far. I will be communiting on it to work tomorrow so that's it's next test!

Take your time and pick the right bike . Go to main dealers and also up north as they will let you test ride bikes. The vfr was far down my list. I test drove the zx1000 smt990 and tiger before the vfr.

Yeah man i will be in no rush at all. Sure i need a while to get cash together. Realistically its gonna be about 2 months until im actually going to switch.

I love how the SV drives, its ****e loads of fun. But even with the Apex Risers on it, i find it fairly hard on the arms and shoulders.

Ordered a new D.I.D Gold X Ring chain today and sprockets for the bike. Will fit them about a month or so before I head to Europe when I drop the oil out and give her a nice service for her maiden voyage into the unkown.

Adjusted my throttle and clutch cables. Had too much play in the throttle and it was not nice on a slow turn like a roundabout, nice and smooth delivery of power now so looking forward to the next spin!

I think I need to do the same. Can be quite jumpy.

Not today but on Friday I took a shot of an S1000RR HP4 for a few hours. Ridiculous top end power and lots of gadgets, but not half as amazing as I expected from reading all the reviews. The semi active suspension honestly felt like it was doing very little. Still a fun bike despite a few niggles.

I serviced the super four with fresh oil and filter. Local shop didnt have the air filter in stock so I have ordered one. I done about 5 k since its last service so It was definitely due a fresh sup of oil. Have to say though, she burned up practically no oil in that 5k.

You should have given me a shout, I have a spare one here. But nice one getting the service done.

Cheers p.k.m. I had a few hours opportunity to get it done so just popped down to pj coyne in clonard. Filter should be in by mon or tuesday. I want to change the coolant. Is it a handy enough job? Are you out for a spin on monday with the lads off here?

Drove from Cork to Carlow to pick up a cheap bellypan for the Mille. Got lucky really because it's made in three pieces- the new one is split in a place that mine isn't so I'll be able to make a good clean one out of the two. Pretty good investment of €30+ petrol.

Took her for an early morning spin to Tandragee Road Races, Unfortunately there was a fatality today (Noel Murphy from Lusk). Really hit home how dangerous the sport is....

    Noel Murphy
    RIP.

Spend ages trying to get an oil filter off without the proper oil filter wrench.

Heard it about it on twitter earlier, always get that sinking feeling when I hear news like this.

RIP Noel and condolences to family and friends.

Why Coyne's? You should have gone to Horse Power in Longwood, they might even have had it in stock. Re: changing the coolant, I've never done it on the Super Four...I would think it's handy enough.

No, not going on thi spin mate, didn't get a chance to tax the bike (she's still declared off the road under the new legislation) so I don't want to chance it just yet.

It was just closer. Horse power didnt have an airfilter last time either. Must be an unusual filter so most places dont have it in stock.

nvbikq]14113679946_57b6c8f685_s.jpgLeft the bike in to get the Panniers fitted. They look grand on the bike and are on the ignition key also so a nice neat job.

Still not enough luggage space for the misses on an overnight trip but there is about 6 months luggage space there for me !!

Thats exactly what they are. Not loads of room like the Givi stuff, More inline with the same size as on the sprint I would say but sure I can throw a waterproof bag across the pillion seat if I need more room.

    A little tip.
Get a spare key cut at your local locksmith. There should be one in your local shopping centre, or town centre. Don't get a Honda branded key, and don't get a key with a chip.
It should cost you less than €10.
That way you will have a key to open your panniers and top box.
It means that you can open a pannier while the bike is running.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Wonda-Boy

Then someone can hope on the bike and fly off while you are looking for a pair of new knickers in the panniers...

You can get a hammer and screwdriver, tap a little hole in the filter and use the screwdriver as a lever to twist it anticlockwise to get it off. Keep bucket/tray under it to catch the oil.

Was going to try that but it was very tight, wanted to avoid something like this disaster :

I bought a big plumber wrench in lidl a few years ago and this does the job for oil filter removal on the car and bike.
