I know one Polish dude, he's a work colleague, top notch bloke, extremely resourceful and he's always still in the office working when I'm leaving at 5:30.
I agree with whom ever said they have a wicked sense of humour, and culturally, they aren't a million miles away from us which has probably done no harm when it comes to integration.

I'm married to a Polish lass as well. The country is quite similar to our own. Some bad areas just like in Ireland.
The people are very similar to us as well.
    Generally sound people.

    Polish worker v Irish worker.

Leave an Irish lad and a polish lad in a workshop with a dodgy welder and broken grinder with some steel that needs fabricated.

Come back at the end of the day.

Polish lad, had the grinder disassembled, reassembled working perfectly. Job complete.

Irish lad, 4 newspapers read, 20 cigarette butts at his feet, fcuk all work done.

I'll give them this much, they're resourceful.

    gibberish
there are lots of hardworking resourceful Irish people around
there are also lazy arse scratchers of all nationalities

    Nice video, nice gesture!

Some of my closest friends in work are polish, and some of the nicest people ive met are polish, i think they are a good fit with ireland, and they are more than welcome here.

Any nationality is welcome here if they contribute positively in my opinion.

Etack kurva de ziabana (spelling is all wrong).

Generalisation coming - They're a bit leaner than Irish people, women are thinner and more trim, men are more broad and muscular. This rule would be applicable to a sizeable minority imo.

You're making that up. There is no way any normal language has "wsz" in any word, or "dz".

Yeah, great people alright. Glad they came over, the immigration over the past ten years really improved Ireland imo.

I hate to interrupt the love in here, but what in the f'uck

We certainly needed some immigration, but the unrestricted access we gave was a massive contributor to the out of control property and rent costs, over building of homes with every Joe Soap buying two or three rental properties with bank loans as investments, not to mention the bonkers idea of giving them dole rights and the ensuing dole tourism problem this created.

Nothing against the people at all (although I wouldn't be going as overboard as most here about how they are so much friendlier, better looking and hard working than the awful Irish nation, it is awful cringey self hating bollocks), and we certainly needed some immigration to make up for shortfalls of labour in some sectors, but we should have had limited entry like most of the rest of the EU did. I think even most Poles themselves would concede that.

A lot of self hatred is evident in this thread, man. The Poles are all are supermodels and bodybuilding types. The Irish are lazy slobs. Meh.

The truth is, Polish folk are still a minority here. There are 122k resident, according to the most recent census. There are a lot more Polish males here than women. 44k Polish women live here. A sizeable chunk of them are kids and pensioners. So that breaks down the 44k even more.

There are an absolute tonne of beautiful Irish women. But because Polish girls are exotic, a minority, and some are beautiful - Irish lads tend to remember the stunners and judge all Polish ladies on that.

As for the Polish being so hard working. 21% are on jobseekers allowance.

Edit: all my figures come from census 2011. I cannot post links until I reach 50 posts.

I'm in a relationship. I've no problem with folk bigging up immigrants, once the available data backs it up. For most of the pro immigration claims on this thread, they simply aren't true.

According to census 2011, only one immigrant group have a lower unemployment rate than the Irish. Folk from Scandinavia/The Nordics.

Every other group has a higher unemployment rate.

Not to mention the fact that a substantial of the EU nationals on the register likely don't even live in the state any more. I honestly think the reason FF never put in place any sort of limitation on their right to claim was because to do so would have been an admission that the economy might go tits up in the future. Something that FF completely and utterly refused to entertain the idea of.

    The Irish Indo:
The extent of the unemployment crisis within the immigrant community in Ireland is revealed in statistics secured by the Sunday Independent, which show that 25 per cent of Polish nationals between the ages of 15 and 64 are on the dole.

The issue of unemployment levels within the immigrant community emerged when, responding to queries in Castlebar District Court about the existence of a Polish charity in Ireland, Judge Devins remarked: "A Polish charity? There is. It's called the social welfare

Yeah, but I've more than 50 posts, so I can.

Significantly, the statistics also reveal that whilst Polish citizens
constitute 3.3 per cent of the population aged between 15 and 64, they account for 4.39 per cent of claimants of unemployment schemes that are open to the working population.

It is believed one of the key factors in the rate of unemployment amongst
Polish workers, which is slightly higher than that of Irish workers, has been
the collapse of the building and manufacturing industry in the economy

What nonsense? Are you saying welfare tourism does not exist?

Considering the vast majority would not be caught it is more of a tip of the iceberg situation and you know full well it is.

Their unemployment figures don't differ greatly from that of Irish nationals, explained by the link I provided.

Bit odd that you missed that part, seeing as you read the article.

I take it the word 'greatly' means something else to you so? That rate is double the actual unemployment rate...

On the vid itself, great stuff and any encounter me and my family have had with them have been positive. Hard working, honest and very clean. They treat your property and you with respect. No bull from them and they take none either. Give me a pole over a pampered tiger cub any day of the week.
