+1, the likes of Tony Kelly have no break got at all between County, club and Fitzgibbon and all the events that go with winning an all ireland. As nice as winning the league a few weeks out of the limelight, the media and away from all the hype that has surrounded them will do no harm at all and should help re focus them for June. Hopefully they will hit the ground running then.

Jack Browne is a good bit taller and lightly built but in fairness to him he's very tenacious, he had no bother bursting through a few players on Sunday. Very few know what has actually happened I would guess but while he might not have been used with the seniors this year he was definitely worth his space on the extended panel I would have thought. All the lads over there have said it was a discipline issue, I don't know the ins and outs of it and even if I did I wouldn't say it on here. Hopefully the bridge hasn't been permanently burned.
It was a very serious matter but as you said not one to be discussed on here. Pity as he fantastic skill and although small isn't afraid to put himself about.

i heard all about it yesterday morning at work ,would never post it on this davy was right to drop him but i would expect totts to make a return to the fold next year around waterford crystal time which is such a waste given all the time and effort he has put in all year up to now

anyway back to on the field , the minor hurlers had a big win over kerry last night in the park setting themselves up with tipperary next week, they were slightly unlucky to lose to all ireland champions waterford few weeks back conceding a few late scores against a far more experienced side

majority of this years minor panel are newcomers so it was'nt a bad nights work, the management were said to be happy with how they performed , a win against tipperary next week will set up a rematch with the deise in the munster semi final

the minor footballers beat limerick 2-17 to 3-07 in newcastle west this evening but were leading 2-15 to 0-03 at the start of the second half, and while they had to play against a strong second half wind i doubt the management will be too happy with the finish , with limerick scoreing 2-2 in the last 5 minns,

yes the game was over before half time ,but a leaf out of the minor hurlers book from the night before would have been no harm either, this the age group to encourage ruthlessness and not take the foot off the gas ,it seems to be a problem that still affects the senior hurlers at the moment

it was a good win in the end with all the work done before half time, they will face waterford next wednesday in dungarvin who lost narrowly to tipp in the last round, cork await the winners in the semis

Very true MfMan I cant deny that but the big difference is that Kilkenny have earned the right to be arrogant.

Perhaps, but winning an AI is for one year only, not for all time. 'Tis like a Galway man strutting about because we won 3-in-a-row in the 60s or 2 in the 80s. All in the past now.

Humility is the greatest of God's graces!! :-)

I fully agree with tssk actually. We are way overhyped at the moment, a few weeks away from the spotlight will do us all the good in the world and help them to get back to hurling.

The only All Ireland that can be won this year is this years All Ireland however we still own the previous 33 we have won including the nine in the past 12 years and the 7 league titles in the same period ( soon to become 8) Once won you own them forever. 2 things we do not do in Kilkenny, Gaelic Football and humble and we probably know more about the Gaelic.

Makes our 10-point victory in the '12 Leinster final all the sweeter so!

I never said Kilkenny were not arrogant. We are but we have earned that right and that's the difference. When it comes to hurling we have nothing to be humble about no matter how admirable a trait that may be.If we are to learn humility we most definitly will have to import some foreign coaches (D O'G i believe is on the market at present)because we ain't going to learn it on the playing pitches in the near foreseeable future.

The higher you place any team or any person on a pedestal just means that they have a steeper fall on the way down. Did you ever see Cork or Kerry fall into this trap!

Great to see Clare footballers get a run on the hallowed turf today. When you read about a fine player like Gary Brennan only getting to play in Croker for the first time, you get some idea of the imbalance that exists in the Gaelic Football universe. Good luck today anyway.

Most problems with Gaelic football in munster counties other than kerry or cork is entirely self-inflicted nothing more nothing less so don't blame the GAA who should bear some criticism but at the end of the day its the county boards responsibility to promote the game wherever its not strong sorry but its the harsh truth.

Why is this game in Croke park?? Looks like there about 100 people there

National league finals double header. Despite the numbers issue I think it is a good reward for players who would most likely otherwise never get to play at headquarters

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 96 ✭✭GalwayMark

Probably allow the weaker counties to have a run on the turf

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,345 ✭✭✭MayoSalmon

I have seen more people at Croker for under-12 schools finals.

This opportunity to play on the hallowed turf in becoming a poor excuse and is not conducive to creating any buzz or atmosphere for the game

Pity not to win it but promotion was the big prize. Roll on Waterford in the championship

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 96 ✭✭GalwayMark

The gaa should mix and match the finals e.g. Division 4 and 2 finals on the saturday night then 3 and 1 on the sunday afternoon would be better for getting the crowds to turn up

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,631 ✭✭✭Dirty Dingus McGee

Another problem is that the GAA for some reason only sell tickets for the hogan stand. It looks very bad on TV having an empty stand on show surely they could sell only Cusack stand tickets for the Division 3 and 4 finals.
